View Full Version : Prime Cut (Lee Marvin & Gene Hackman) - any good ?
I see that this is on channel 5 tonight but I have never heard of this film before at all which I'm surprised at considering how much I like/admire Hackman and Marvin
Anyone here seen it before and if so what did you think of it ?
Lee Marvin vs Gene Hackman = should be good :)
worth watching, a real weird cult film. i thought it was a decent, gritty, tough movie. it is a touch puerile but i think it's a hidden gem of a film.
Don't order the combine harvester
It's a great movie. Michael Ritchie at his seventies best (few other directors have had quite so disappointing a later career).

It's also Sissy Spacek's big-screen debut, if you don't count being an extra in the Warhol film Trash.
Unfortunately the film is in 2.35:1 - unless Channel 5 have changed their policy lately, I'd strongly suspect it'll be panned and scanned.
just finished watching it, great film but it looked as if Jason Voorhees had taken his machete to it.
Well it looked as if it had been cut to me anyway.
Still glad to have seen it in some form or another though, especially as I had never heard of it before! :)

This film is a lot of fun - look for the wristwatch where you might least expect it.
I am pretty sure that this was bankrolled by the owner of Penthouse magazine, which goes some way to explaining the, err, supporting cast.
regards, Tim...
A stupendous film. A joy. A prime case of "they don't make them like that any more!" (and more's the pity).
Have seen this on BBC at least twice, but not in recent years. Always full-screen, I'm sure. Have a dupe of an old British VHS release, also cropped, but better than nothing.
Would love to get my hands on this one on a good DVD, but then if even "Point Blank" has yet to warrant a release... :(
Love the sunflowers.
Anyone for sausages? ;)
wow, forgot how hot sissy spacek looked in this movie!

According to Satalite Weekly the film was marked 'edited for tv'. Ch 5 cut their films even more than the BBC. Even 15 cert films shown at 11pm are 'edited for tv'.
