the best computer game film IMO.

its all out entertainment !!! :)

not like cheesy Mortal Kombat. And Streetfighter ....dont need explaining.


is the DVD out ?

i quite liked the Mario Bros movie (although a while since i've seen it) but better than Mortal Kombat, you're having a laugh!!

It would be an alright family fantasy movie, but for the fact that it simply doesn't seem to have anything to do with the Mario Bros. games besides the characters. There are no magic mushrooms (how they were allowed to be called that in the western translation I'll never know), power flowers, capes, feathers. Don't even get me started about the goombas (plus where were the Koopa Troopers?)

One thing that definately wasn't wrong was the brilliant Joe Satriani Track: Speed Of Light

Woohoo! another fan of the film! :D :clap: :clap:

I've always really liked this film and it is definitely one of my favourite games to films.

It's a major cheesefest but I love it! :)

I would only like Resident Evil more as an adaptation but certainly like it more than say Mortal Kombat

Oh and John316 you can just **** right off, everytime this film is mentioned you go on a rant! :D :p

Its not a film, its a torture device that Interrogators show to Prisoners! I've heard it has a 100% success rate :p

Same can be said about Final Fantasy.

ok FF aint too bad a film, but it had absolutely no connection with the FF game world.

where was the magic ? where was the lovable characters ? where was the characters which had machine guns for arms. Where was the evil sorceror threatening to take over the world ?

I saw <i>Super Mario Bros</i> at a press show where the kids in the audience were getting more and more bored as the film went on. Enough said.

Who said FF was any good? - it'd be as bad as Super Mario except the CGI is the best I've seen so its worth seeing for that. SMB: The Movie is not worth seeing for anyone bar Dennis Hopper's lawyers who should demand he is digitally edited out of the movie and replaced with Ice-T in the same role :p

When I went to the cinema to see Mario Brothers, I thought it was actually quite good.

After getting the *cough* video, I enjoyed it even more.

What is wrong with the film after all? It's a tad on the cheesy side, but that's the good thing about it!

Conan is cheesy, Commando is cheesy, Scorpion King is cheesy - Mario Bros is just pants - its just an insult to the movie world and to Nintendo's gaming franchise! :clap:

Bloody hell this threads ancient, I don't even remember posting in here :lol:

I do still like the film though, it's probably the guiltiest pleasure a man can have which is legal :D nothings more entertaining than watching a supposedly italian plumber being played by Bob Hoskins :notworthy

I did see the dvd of this during the week and nearly picked it up, since it's in anamorphic widescreen and my R1 isn't, someone help :nuts: :cuckoo: :D

Fans unite!

I still think this is a tremendously fun movie. Great cast and characters (although not always true to the video game, but who cares?), effects arent bad either, wicked Roxette song.

Other than Advent Children (which has its flaws), this is by far the best Video Game adaptation.

Saw the DVD in WHSmith today, in the chart nonetheless - I couldn't work out what was going on because it wasn't a special edition release, or priced up at £1, and yet there it was sitting proudly amongst all the new releases.

I guess I just assumed that this had been out over here before, although I'm interested as to why they've chosen now to suddenly bring it out. Something to do with the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out maybe?

How? It's categorically NOTHING like the game or its universe, other than there are some brothers who are plumbers. And they got rid of LUIGI'S MOUSTACHE!

I should not have used 'adaptation'. What I meant was best movie based on a video game. I'm not judging it on how close it is to the game.

I can't see how anyone can enjoy it, tbh. Why they thought kids would clamour to get dragged through an hour and a half of depressingly grey sets and drizzly Fisher Price Blade Runner castoffs instead of the wonderful rainbow-coloured inventiveness of the games... well, it's beyond idiotic. Even at the best of times, the film is a mess because different people were directing it on a day-to-day basis. I'm sure they even let the YTS kid have a go.
