Anyone else got this album. Bought it yesterday to see what it was like and pretty impressed - if you like David Gray or David Kitt it should be up your street...

Despite hearing this first in July or August when it was released, it wasn't until a few months later and some consistent listens that I loved 'O'.... voted it my fourth favourite album of last year in Adges thread too.

And so it is: Just back from the Union Chapel gig. Great venue, great support (Gary Dunne first and Rodrigo and some girl(something spanish, probably wasn't Barry:D)) and a great performance by Damien.... aswell as Lisa, Vyvienne and Shane of course.

Highlight of the evening were unsurprisingly 'The Blower's Daughter' and 'Cannonball', as well as covers of 'Hallelujah' and 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head'. A couple of new songs were peppered throughout the evening admidst the album tracks and single b-sides like , 'The Professor' & 'Woman Like A Man'.

Think I'll book tickets for the April Shepherds Bush gig. It obviously won't be as intimate as Union Chapel, we were seated only a few pews from the front, but I think there was enough about his whole performance, not just musically, for him to make it work.

:)

Saw him last year when I got free tickets to see Katheryn Williams at St. Georges in Bristol.
Was blown away by how good the guy was, wasn't sure if the song would work quite as well without the background and banter between songs. Havn't seen the album in the shops to buy it on impulse though.

Excellent album.

ps - not heard David Kitt - one to investigate

Mr Moby - i was at the Union Chapel gig too, it was incredible! Lisa Hannigans Silent Night in semi-darkness finished off the evening perfectly. Cracking gig!

I'd reccomend O to anyone, it might not be your thing but most people have been sucked into the beauty of this album. Try it. What's the worst that can happen? :)

I'd have to agree, I was given this album by a friend and told "Just give it a go mate" which I did, and its one of the most beutiful albums I have ever heard! I'm struggling to sicken myself with it at the minute!!

Awesome Stuff!

I picked this up on the girlfriend's recommendation along with the Woman Like A Man EP... I gather he's very good live and that Lisa is amazing. Going to try and see him at Glasto.

Was really annoyed to find out that there had been a gig in New York last week which was Damien Rice, Aqualung and Charlotte Martin in a tiny venue. Would have been a good night out!

I'm going to sulk now. :brickwall

i would die to see charlotte and damian on the same bill.
i think i'll be driving to san fran when they play together in June. i've never seen damian live, but i love his stuff. 'delicate' is on the NPR station over here all the time.

Is Aqualung unknown over in the US, hisreadhead? If so, get your nearest Internet Music Facilitator to provide you with "Strange And Beautiful"

Mrs Radiohead was at school until 18 with Matt Hales (aka Aqualung) and he's a top bloke.

Great voice as well - he deserves to do well.

I'd also recommend Michael J Sheehy and Mark Mulcahy.

Absolutely top album. I missed it the first time around, but picked it up on it's re-release after buying the Woman Like A Man EP.

Don't suppose anyone knows if he's got any gigs planned in Scotland do they?

He's currently touring America and Europe and will be until the end of the year still promoting O. But he's playing at a couple of festivals, including T in the Park on the 13th of June which I believe is in Scotland :)

Saw him on ToTP2 last night. Reminded me what a great singer he is.

If you're going to see him you're in for a treat.

Is this edition of ToTP2 repeated anytime this week?

He was on Letterman on Monday aswell, he even got to play two songs, Volcano with the full band and Cannonball on his own.

Dr Hfuhruhurr

Not that I know of.

It was Volcano and looked like it was a video rather than a special for tv so you may have seen it already.

I ended up buying the album almost a year after seeing him.
I had The blowers daughter downloaded for a while and that convinced me.
I love amie though,its my favourite :)

Funny though I cant remember him playing any of these songs when I saw him! :( :gag:

Did anyone see him on Conan O'Brien on CNBC the other night (Sunday). It was with the whole band and they done Cold Water. Lisa Hannigan ( :luv: ) did sing a line wrong, but I think I can forgive her.

I came across him when he sang live (accompanied by a woman) during Glastombury.
Both of them singing together was fantastic.
I have the album now.
Every song is not great but better than most songs you will hear this year.

Couldn't you have started a new thread? Not trying to have a go, but surely there's a limit to how far back you need to be digging stuff up in order to avoid thread duplication! :D

I'm sure someone will start a new one with the new album title etc.

I think that new single isn't very commercial, but is Bloody Good.

Her voice is amazing, she reminds me of a female Eddie Vedder
