View Full Version : Birds Of Prey 1x05 (sins of the mother) **Spoilers**
This episode has just been on. Again this show is staying on its path to be a very good first season.
I liked the introduction of Dinah's mother as an ex-superhero (Black Canary) and also the twist at the end where you realise that the episdoes bad guy is in fact Reese's father!
As always too much CGI (especially the big explosion - way too fake) but good fight scenes.
What does seem to be a theme in this is the fact thet they always seem to end the episode too quickly, I'd prefer it if they had a bit more episode to episode storyline and that they didn't just end every episode with the three of them in the tower.
Black Canary
who thinks up the superhero names for them?
'oh no! I'm being chased by the Black Canary'
:p
Wonder who's going to pick this up over here, probably Sky1 or C5 i suppose.

Her special power was that she could make this CGI showckavesound out of her mouth which could kill/hurt people etc etc.
I think Sky may well pick it up if it continues to do well over here.
I just watched the episode and noticed one very strange thing - the episode was only 39 minutes and 30 seconds long.
I know that most show now only run 42 minutes instead of the 44 minutes they used to run a few years back - but 39 minutes is getting silly.
And I'm slowly losing hope for this show - the CGI effects are getting worse, the stunt-double for Helena is too obvious, the cop is getting more and more annoying every week and the scripts still look like rejected Charmed scripts.
Ashley Scott and Mia Sara are pretty much the only reason I still watch it - and even they won't keep me watching for long (especially if they keep making episodes without Mia Sara).

Ditto ... I think what we need is a nice mid-season 2 parter , so they can start to expand on the characters and give them a bit of breathing room as everythin does seem very hurriedly tied together at the end of every episode ... I do think the show is gradually getting better every week bit by bit ... But they do seriously need to re-think the CGI

Not too bad an episode, but suffered because of Harley's absence
I thought.

The character she's based on was originally created way back in the 40's during "The Golden Age of Comics" , :dork: which might explain the "hokyness" of the name.
Mind you, she did have fishnet tights as part of her costume, which is never a bad thing :norty:
I thought this was a really poor episode. Sooo disappointed in this show. Some of the writing is terrible.
Fight sequences and cast are great, if only the rest of it wasn't so botched.
:(
Can anyone honestly say that the script gets anywhere close to Angel, Alias or even Buffy at its worst (i.e. now)
And the way it always finishs with them hugging each other in front of the clock tower :gag:
Bring the sick bag quick!
