i bought my cam on ebay in the summer, from a shop not from a s/h seller, and it arrived all sealed and brand new
on use of the second tape (5 were included), on playback the screen would pixellate a lot at it would advise me to clean the heads. i presumed it was a problem with the tape, as the camera was brand new so i kinda ignored it.
i used up all my tapes, and now quite frequently on playback the screen went funny, and the only way to fix the problem was to rewind it fully when around 30mins in and use the camera straight away. leaving it for a long period of time would mean the problem still occuring.
last week i was filming, and the CLEAN HEADS error came up whilst recording for the first time, so i eventually hunted down a head cleaner (£20 bleh!) ran it 3 times, and the picture seemed a bit better, and i watched the tape i'd recorded the other day a few times.
i wake up this morning, and yep as before pixellated screen and CLEAN HEADS warning until i rewound it from ~30mins in and started playing it. is there something more wrong with my camera than i previously thought, or is it cos im using these older tapes? should i dump everything off my old tapes, run the head cleaner a few times then only use brand news ones? any suggestions?
