hopefully a Rambo 4 is on the cards too :D
i would love to see both of the films

I cant believe that they are gonna make another one. Ok there was a couple of good films in the saga, but is there really a need for another one?
Is Sly skint or something?.:norty:

Would he consider kickstarting a Cobra franchise? A guilty pleasure on a par with Commando..

I thinks the best storyline would be if Rocky had to fight for an increase in his state pension............................do not make this film!
It should be an action packed bonanza as Rocky takes on an evil corporation that is screwing him out of royalties on the low fat grilling machine he endorsed for them.

What?! No Stop or my Mom will shoot 2? Can it be far away based on this news ?
Stallone can act. He has done so in a few films (admittedly not most of his though as they are action types).
He was good in Rocky I, First Blood and Copland, and pretty good in a couple of the other Rocky films (I liked him in Rocky V).
He can definitely act a lot better than most action stars

Hey, come on, give the guy some credit, you have to say that his performances in Rocky 1, 2 and in Rambos 1 and 2 were awesome. Most people don't give him the credit he deserves. Although I have to say that Driven, Oscar, and Stop or my Mum will Shoot are best left alone.
you have to give sly some credit, after all he did write Rocky and Rambo, he's just made some bad choices along the way. I even thought his recent efforts such as Get Carter and D-Tox weren't half as bad as some other stuff that gets a theatrical release

I like Stallone, his movies don't disappoint me, kinda of actor you like or don't like, you can identify with his roles more.
Copland was great, First Blood, Demolition Man, I did like him in Get Carter as well. Driven has been his main mistake, but overall he's alright, just got a plague of bashers of critics and press to get rid of.
and Demolition Man rules! :)
If you ever see him interviewed he comes across as pretty intelligent and quick-witted. Unlike Arnie and his scripted interviews.
I hope Rocky VI is gonna be better than the crappy Rocky V. I love 3 and 4 the best though!

I really don't know how good this one will be.
Rocky V had some good moments, but a sixth film - although nice to see - could be taking it a bit too far.
Rocky VI had better have at least one legitimate boxing match in it, otherwise it will bomb like V.

and thats what counts right - :D
I must admit, Rocky VI has some potential if Stallone actually tries to do something serious and a little more thoughtful with it. All though I didn't think the finished product was by any means great, Rocky V was certainly a ballsy sequel. I hated the way Rocky became a comic-strip superman between III - IV. So to strip him of all that glitz and one-dimensional-american-hero excesses and return him to his gritty ghetto roots and - shock - to not even have a proper boxing match finale was a real risk for Rocky V. I mean, what other franchise has finished (so far) on such a bum note? Ok, so it didn't quite work, but kudos for trying. I just hope Rocky VI tries something just as risky - maybe Stallone will have the real balls to kill Balboa off in the ring - though I'm betting it'll be more in the vein of a triumphant George Foreman returns to the ring / Rocky IV hybrid affair, especially with the political climate in the US at the moment.

George Foreman won the world championship aged 45 and boxed until he was almost 50. He also plans on making a return to have a stab at the World Championship in another 8 years or so after he's 60.

So that means Stallone is 7 years older than Foreman was in his last fight, ergo ridiculous. Suspension of disbelief is all well and good but this is asking too much of an audience.
Hard to now believe Sly won an Oscar for the original, so eager is he to trample on the memory of that with needless execrable sequels.

Also from the sounds of it Rocky is a trainer in the next film and is lured back into the ring - something that has happened on many occasions to retired boxers past their prime.
Bash Ali was 54 when he won the Cruiser Weight World Championship in 2000. He plans on boxing until he's over 60 as well.
I think this is good news , and as for Stallone being crap I would say that is far from the truth, he has made some excellent films, the whole Rocky series was great, and Rambo, plus I really like him in Assassins
This news just reminds me of the terrifingly prescient Rocky 25 promo poster in Airplane....

your writing all the sequels off before you've seen them. A bad sequel shouldnt spoil anything the original offers. I dont know about fading careers either, Stallone may be having a bad time after 3 average/poor releases but Ford and Arnie are stilling doing fine.

From http://www.darkhorizons.com/
At the end of December, MGM announced plans to finance a "Rocky 6" in which Sylvester Stallone is starring, writing, and producing with a $15 million dollar budget.
Now, there's a chance that we may see one enemy in here again. Dolph Lundgren told B & K Sports Magazine that Stallone may be writing his character, Russian boxer Ivan Drago, into the sixth film. Lundgren's character appeared in "Rocky 4," which is widely considered as one of the better Rocky sequels.
"Sly's writing a new Rocky. The 6th one, and tells me he's going to try and write Ivan Drago in it. There's no way I'd miss out on an opportunity on sparring with Balboa again. In my opinion, Rocky IV, was one of the best Rocky sequels. Not the least - the better of my films. If we can get those two guys back in the ring again, we could have something special. And from what Sly tells me, it's going to be good. I look forward to doing it."

You can turn age into a advantage, Clint Eastwood is a idle to actors like Sly Stallone and Arnie.:D
Rocky 6 might address:
Drago's drug taking-his fall after big raise, medical side of things, Rocky's braindamage, can't be repaired as said in Rocky 5.
So Rocky 6 might be a old boxers type club story, but very modern, the new fight becomes age and public perception and health, are these the big opponents to Rocky and Drago and others then against each other at times? Interesting possibilities.
Rocky rocks! :|
Rocky 1-4 were superb, the fifth was okay.
Stallone's great. Just watched Cliffhanger last night it's very good.

Ah Rocky IV rules! Its the best cold war propoganda movie that I can think of! Dolph and Sly - you can't go wrong. Besides, I saw him and arnie in an interview when plannet hollywood was just opening and he certainly seemed a lot smarter and charismatic than his usual characters on the screen. Made Arnie look a bit thick if you count my opinion
His new movie sounds crap, its about Tupac!
Starring in Spy-Kids 3D is another joke, I never imagined Stallone could have lost it so soon. He should be still knocking out Action blockbusters!

Is it just me or are MGM being a bit tight with the budget? $15 million should only just cover Sly's fee!
If it's the same story he had the outline for a couple of years back, Rocky comes out of retirement for a fund-raising boxing match but loses.

I wouldn't be supprised if Stallone was taking a percentage of the profits.
After the brain damage in Rocky 4 and the bare knuckle pounding he took in Rocky 5, I just can't see Adrian letting him come out of retirement for a charity fight.

$15M is a joke isn’t it? Wouldn’t even cover the marketing on any Hollywood flick. Arnie got $31M just for reprising The Terminator plus percentage points. What’s Stallone doing it for? Luncheon vouchers?

Hope its not a repeat of Rocky 3 with Clubber training Rocky etc, that sounds terrible.
maybe mickey will return from the grave to give obi wan like advice from beyond the ring in the sky
not sure how this would work unless it was a story Rocky training his son and ends up getting involved to fighting the opponent etc etc

Confirmed yesterday, I cannot wait!
From AP:
LOS ANGELES - Yo Adrian! Rocky is planning another comeback. Fifteen years after starring in "Rocky V," Sylvester Stallone is reprising his role as the boxing champ in the sixth "Rocky" movie, publicist Michelle Bega said Monday.
The 59-year-old actor will write and direct "Rocky Balboa," which will begin shooting in Philadelphia and Las Vegas next year.
Stallone told the Daily Variety trade magazine the movie will focus on an aging, widowed Rocky who is reluctant to get back in the ring but ends up doing it "just to compete, not to win."
"I am drawing on a lot of my feelings that are in sync with many people's feelings about facing the last chapter of their lives and how they want it to be written," Stallone said.
Dan Taylor, president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which is co-producing the film, said the movie focuses less on boxing and more on character.
"It's about self-examination, an opportunity to see what kind of person he is and act on it," Taylor said.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Talia Shire, who appeared in five previous "Rocky" films as the boxer's love interest, Adrian, will return in the sixth installment, said Stuart Herriot, a spokesman with Revolution Studios, which is co-producing the film.
"In the script, she did pass away, but it's unsure whether she might appear in a flashback or in older footage," Herriot said. "It's too early in the production to tell."
But, Herriot said, Burt Young is expected to return as Adrian's brother, Paulie.
Stallone wrote all the "Rocky" films and directed the second, third and fourth entries.
The first movie, released in 1976, won three Oscars, including best picture and best director for John G. Avildsen.
From E! Online:
Cue "Eye of the Tiger"--the Italian Stallion is coming out of retirement for more one shot.
Sylvester Stallone has signed on to reprise his role as the boxing champ for a sixth installment in the once mighty franchise.
The film, simply titled Rocky Balboa, was announced Monday by Columbia Pictures, Revolution Studios and original distributor MGM, which will team up to produce what a press release describes as a return to the style and grit of the 1976 franchise-launching original.
The story will pick up with the fictional prize fighter retired and a widower (no Adrian!), who, after resisting offers to return to the ring, reluctantly agrees to take on reigning world heavyweight champion Mason "The Line" Dixon.
"Rocky Balboa is about everybody who feels they want to participate in the race of life, rather than be a bystander," the 59-year-old Stallone said in a statement. "You're never too old to climb a mountain, if that's your desire." Or relive the glory days.
The first Rocky introduced everyone's favorite underdog, a blue-collar, journeyman puncher who goes a full 15 rounds with flamboyant champ Apollo Creed. Although Rocky eventually loses a decision, the film scored a knockout. With a budget of just $1 million, Rocky became one of the top-grossing films of the '70s, pulling in $117 million domestically and $220 million in worldwide ticket sales. It also established "Yo, Adrian!" as a national catchphrase, made Stallone a household name, scored nine Oscar nominations (Best Actor and Best Screenplay for Stallone, among them) and won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
While subsequent sequels descended into increasingly cartoonish formula, they too threw plenty of weight around at the box office.
Rocky II (Rocky takes title from Creed in rematch) tallied $85 million domestically in 1979, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com; 1982's Rocky III (Rocky loses title to Mr. T, then regains it in rematch) slugged its way to $125 million domestically; and 1985's Rocky IV (Rocky goes to Russia, battles steroid-crazed Commie boxer Dolph Lundgren), grossed $128 million.
Rocky V (1990), however, didn't fare as well. That film, which saw Stallone's alter ego come out of retirement and engage former protege Tommy Gunn (real-life boxer Tommy Morrison), grossed a meager $40 million domestically as audiences apparently grew tired with the chicken-chasing tomato can.
Stallone, who wrote all five Rocky movies and directed the second, third and fourth films, has been working on the script for the sixth go-round for some time now. He said he felt the time was right to slip on the gloves one last time given the currents going on in his own life, especially as an aging action star.
Stallone's last significant big-screen role came in 2003's Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over; his most high-profile gig of late was hosting NBC's low-rated reality series The Contender, which traded on his Rocky fame.
"I am drawing on a lot of my feelings that are in synch with many people's feelings about facing the last chapter of their lives and how they want it to be written. Rocky goes through the skepticism of trying to go against the tide, to go against common sense," the actor tells Daily Variety.
On the production end, Rocky Balboa will be mostly a family affair.
Executive producing will be Robert Chartoff and Irwin Winkler, who oversaw the earlier Rocky pictures, while their sons, Charles and David Winkler and William Chartoff, will produce along with Kevin King.
With Talia Shire's Adrian down for the count, the only supporting cast members from previous entries making a return appearance will be Burt Young, who played her brother and Rocky pal, Paulie. Composer Bill Conti, who wrote Rocky's famous anthem, "Gonna Fly Now," is also on board.
Producers are reportedly talking with former heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver to take on the part of Dixon.
Rocky isn't the only muscle-bound hero Stallone is taking out of mothballs. He's also breaking out the bandana for a fourth turn as Rambo. Stallone will also write that screenplay.
Rocky Balboa begins shooting in Philadelphia and Los Angeles in December, after which Stallone is slated to segue into production on Rambo IV.
From Reuters:
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Down but never out, actor Sylvester Stallone is forging a movie comeback for the unlikely boxing champion, Rocky Balboa, who sent Stallone's star soaring and won Oscars nearly 30 years ago, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer said on Monday.
Stallone, 59, will reprise his role in the sixth "Rocky" film, titled "Rocky Balboa," playing the Philadelphia boxer who is lured out of a long retirement to fight a championship bout while dealing with personal tragedy outside the ring.
"'Rocky Balboa' is about everybody who feels they want to participate in the race of life, rather than be a bystander. You're never too old to climb a mountain, if that's your desire," Stallone said in a statement.
The original "Rocky" in 1976 told of a lowly club fighter in Philadelphia who gets his one shot at the championship title and loses in a split decision but wins a personal triumph. It proved to be a box office smash, raking in $117 million and winning Oscars, the U.S. film industry's top honors, for directing, editing and best film.
Stallone, who also wrote the screenplay, was nominated for best actor but lost to Peter Finch for "Network."
Most successor films proved strong with fans as a parade of high-profile pugilists battled Rocky, including actors Mr. T and Dolph Lundgren. But "Rocky V" failed to excite fans and earned a meager $41 million at U.S. and Canadian box offices.
MGM President Dan Taylor said he was convinced that "a whole new generation of filmgoers (is) ready to be introduced" to Rocky Balboa and his life in and out of the ring.
The new film will begin production early next year and is backed by MGM, Columbia Pictures, and Revolution Studios.
MGM is owned by an investor group led by Sony Pictures Entertainment, a unit of Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news). Columbia is a division of Sony Pictures, and Revolution is privately held.

Dolph is retired so thats probably not going to happen. Loved him in Universal Soldier though...

37 year-old IBO Light Heavyweight Champion Antonio "Magic Man" Tarver 24-3 (18) is currently filming the sixth Rocky movie titled "Rocky Balboa" with Sylvester Stallone, where he plays fictional heavyweight champion of the world Mason "The Line" Dixon. It appears the southpaw now wants to make the move up in weight in real life by jumping into the ring with Mike Tyson. "I think the heavyweight division is in dire need of CPR and I'm gonna be the breath of fresh air," he told reporters recently about his planned move.
Watched Rocky 3 the other day, and I realised that it is one of the gheyest films ever made. I think the cropped-vest garment sported during the training montage is especially fruity.
Then when Apollo & Rocky are frolicking and splashing each other in the surf, it takes a turn into Liberace-Land.
Blogger gets told off for asking a stupid question by Mr. T. :D

"I pity the fool who asks me if I still pity the fool!"
Classic.
Just got the new Rocky anthology set, and I've watched the first four in quick succession. They're not the greatest movies ever made, but I enjoyed them even more this time around. The training montages never get boring, the fight action is gleefully OTT, the characters' relationships are nicely advanced with each film, and the acting is pretty good too. And watching them back-to-back enhances the sense of continuity between each film, which is a nice bonus. I haven't got around to watching V yet, but from what I remember it wasn't that bad. A sixth one will be... interesting.

From an interview on The Sun website:
"We are going to start filming Rocky VI soon, with me as Clubber Lang again, and we're also starting work right now on my new show - which is called I Pity The Fool.
"Unlike all the other reality programmes, it is going to be about helping people. We're not going to be eating worms or swapping wives.
"For example a lady might write to me saying she's having trouble at a car dealership, because she's the only female employee and the men are harassing her. So I'll go in and straighten things out.
"I learn about the situation, observe for a couple of days and then call the guys into a meeting and give them the Mr T rap - 'I tell you fools, you don't disrespect no lady. My mum is a lady.'"
sounds like "Mr T will fix it"
Sounds fantastic!!!

They could always have Drago and Rocky teaming up to kick some Middle Eastern infidel butt......
$15M is a joke isn’t it? Wouldn’t even cover the marketing on any Hollywood flick. Arnie got $31M just for reprising The Terminator plus percentage points. What’s Stallone doing it for? Luncheon vouchers?
Looks like he's defferred payment for a cut of the profits. The film should easily make more than that at the box office and on DVD, so he's really on to a winner. Canny guy.
EDIT ah, already mentioned.

Stallone is 60. Paulie looks about 140. I'm very apprehensive about this.
Stallone looks old in that last picture, although he looks in great shape in the top one.
At the end of the day he looks better than me and i'm 23! :D

Stallone was in awesome shape in Get Carter. But he looks a bit overweight now.
"The Line" doen't look like no Clubber Lang nor Ivan drago either.
I wouldn't say he's overweight, he's just not as toned as he was. Maybe it's how the movie will start and then he'll tone himself up for everything after the inevitable training comeback scene ;)
roadkill_88
04-12-2005, 22:23
His arms are bigger in those pics than they were in Get Carter, he was smaller and more defined back then. That was a few years ago though. This is a serious longshot.
depends how he plays it.
I think it'll be better if he dies at the end, or at least looses and not give a typical Rocky ending.
Looks like he has some pec sag going on in that bottom pic.

I'm totally against them making this, but for their ages they look good.
Stallone could pass for a 50 year old - my dad is 56 and looks at least 5 years older than Stallone. Burt Young looks about 70 which I guess he is meant to be.
Looks an interesting film. Well worth watching when it comes out, even if it is unlikely to be good. Anyone know if Drago will be in it?

There's a different actor playing Rocky's son and from what i can gather Adrian is dead!
maybe that should be in spoilers
Paulie is still alive! Is it wrong to feel guilty about actually looking forward to this?
His opponent does not look like a boxer to me, he is flabby, no definition and he looks like he would be in a lower weight class than Rocky.
Niceguygeoff
05-12-2005, 21:06
That looks like LeRoy Neiman in the background of the top shot, and it's a nice little touch of continuity if it is him (having had cameos in III, IV and V). The idea of Rocky's sixth outing feels so wrong, but so help me I like all the Rocky films and I hope this one turns out okay.
Andrew WK
06-12-2005, 14:11
His opponent is played by Antonio Tarver who is most definitely a boxer and is most definitely not flabby! You're right about him being in a lower weight class though, he's the current IBO Light Heavyweight Champion.

I think this will be most compared to Rocky. Where the backbone was could Stallone go the distance on account of his being green, i think it'll be the same here on account of his being past it. So the fact Tarver isnt exactly the Terminator doesn't make all that much difference.
Appollo Creed wasn't a superhuman Villain either, remember.

Hehe, I was just reading an Interview with Stallone that Roger Ebert did in 1979 to promote Rocky II
http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19790619/PEOPLE/906190301/1023
Some choice quotes:
"Q: And then that'll be it for the Rocky pictures?
A: "Yeah. I want to turn my attention to movies about love relationships. Exploring the female psyche - there ought to be some interesting discoveries there. Love stories. If you do it right, people want to hear romantic dialog. Like Rocky says, 'If you wouldn't be here, I couldn't be here.' It looks dangerously corny on the printed page. But if it works in a movie, people love it. People stories. I'm not at all interested in, you know, these 'Nine Men Against the World' movies. But there'll never be a 'Rocky IV.' You gotta call a halt."...
..."It's like this," he said. "I could go on playin' Rocky forever, but it's like even the Bowery Boys got a little embarrassing when they were 50 or 60. They shoulda been the Bowery Seniors."
Gary A
I'll be first in line to watch this, for sure.

I hope that there's more than one nod in this film to former foes, Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang & Ivan Drago (not bothered about the Great White Dope).
I'd like there to be some sort of 'whatever happened to Clubber Lang' scene or even have him in the film being interviewed by an over-excited sports journo ...

Having grown up with them I get goosebumps whenever I think about Rocky films - even Rocky V!! Maybe I'm getting old but I LOVED the whole beyond-the-grave Mick/Rocky thing in V and the reminiscences back to the training before the first Creed fight just as much as the fight with Drago in IV.

Some interesting bits in the Stallone Q&A's on Aint It Cool (thanks to the poster from the other Stallone thread for making me aware of it) including:
"Actually Mr. T and Ivan Drago are in a quick montage before the main event in ROCKY BALBOA. It’s only for a second or two, but I appreciate their agreeing to participate. Apollo Creed is not in ROCKY BALBOA because he wanted many thousands of dollars for a two-second piece of he and Rocky boxing. Unfortunately we couldn’t afford it. Then again, what ever happened to loyalty? Apollo Greed?"
Shame on you Carl Weathers! And well done to Sly for the great Q&A's so far.

Rocky VI? Is this a Stand-up (or maybe Lie-down) comedy?
i think you may be lumping it into "cash in sequal" territory (along with 4 & 5), which from what i've seen is a mistake. It looks really interesting.
I think this looks really good and the more I read about it, the more I think Stallones heart is in the right place for it. He genuinely seems to love the character and you can tell this by the way he talks about Rocky in interviews and how hard it seems to have been to get the film made. People may love Rocky but it's not really a money spinning series anymore so persuading the execs to greenlight it was probably harder than what people think.
Also, according to some opinions/reviews the film is:
mostly about the Rocky character and how he deals with the loss of Adrian, rather than the fight itself which is a part of his way in dealing with losing her. A clever move I think on the part of Stallone considering the soul of the movies was always Rocky and Adrians relationship and how he copes with her death should bring a real emotional core to the film.
I definitely look forward to seeing it a lot, just very annoyed it's not out here until February!!

Me too, didn't realise he had such a beef with Carl Weathers. I guess it is more deep rooted than him just wanting thousands for Rocky 6. I like the bit where he talks about how tough Dolph was in Rocky 4, how he threw Carl into a corner and Carl bailed out the ring to call his agent!!
To say i'm excited about this movie is an understatement. Can't bloody wait.
Really looking forward to this. Has Stallone had a face lift or something, or just getting flabby in his old age? His face looks weird in the bottom 2 of those pics
I remember reading somewhere that the lower left side of his face was paralysed at birth; that's why he speaks a little funny.
EDIT: more here:
A forceps accident during his birth severed a facial nerve, leaving Stallone with parts of his lip, tongue, and chin paralyzed. In doing so, the accident imprinted Stallone with some of the most recognizable components of his persona: the distinctively slurred (and some say often nearly incomprehensible) speech patterns, drooping lower lip, and crooked left eye that have been eagerly seized upon by caricaturists.

Really good review for this in the latest Total Film and it has the following quote in the review..."As a comeback, it could be the greatest triumph of Sly's career." Roll on January the 19th I say and yes it's definitely coming out on that date as there is a advert for it in the magazine. :)

Ah yes, I should have mentioned that I'm a subscriber and that you often get it around 5/6 days before it's out in the shops.

If anyone's interested, Sly's been fielding people's questions over at Ain't It Cool News for the last few days, he must have answered a couple of hundred and it makes for very interesting reading.

I've been loving the AICN Q&A sessions. Sly comes across as completely honest, and doesn't really pull anything back (And yesterdays Robert Evans story made me feel a little ill). I hope he lives up to his promise and does them again.
Saw it earlier today, loved it, thought it was very good, I'm a big fan of all the other films though so don't know whether I was biased.
The Q&A's seem to have worked plus it's gotten good reviews, $6m opening day when they were expecting $2m

Is it out over here already?
Seen it as well, I liked it, on a par with the original in my opinion.
Is it out over here already?
No, not until mid January or something, I saw it in USA.

I read the imdb review just to see what people said and it was all positive, so I sat down, shoes off, kids join me and had one of the best 100 mins of my entire film life. This film is shockingly good, shockingly in the sense that I expected it to be ok but its way beyond that. Every single aspect of the film works a treat, the music, always playing a big part in the original trilogy, is just as good here with the same chugging along theme that makes the films so good. Ill defy anyone not to see this without a glint of a tear in their eye at the end and if logic prevails, an oscar nod for Mr Sly with be coming. Why this wasnt released in the UK for christmas week Ill never know, the business would have been huge!
Go watch it and be taken back to original (which this equals, no, exceeds!)

Sly said they didn't have the financial muscle to do so.

Shame, still im sure they'll get more than their money back, and then some.
It's well worth seeing, and reminded me a lot of the first film.

I'll second that - a really, really good film. A throwback to the original, but with some really energetic direction and a great final fight sequence.
I really enjoyed the film right up until the actual fight. It was such a let down, and was too cartoony for the rest of the film, which had a nice, 'real' feel to it.
I noticed that when it gets to the actual fight, it seems to go very "TV" in the look, even down to it looking like it was shot on video rather than film.
My only criticism was it was, or at least felt, too short. Before i knew it we were at the fight and i just felt things could have been padded out a little more before we reached the climax. I loved the scene outside between Rocky and 'Pete Petrelli' that really summed up who 'Rocky' is as a character for me.
Awesome music throughout, such a rousing anthemic score that i couldn't help grinning at it's many uses.Especially at the end with Rocky at his Wife's grave. It gave the film a great sense of closure
I want to get the box sets now but you just know this time next year they'll be a new boxset out with this included.

Same here, gonna be tough waiting for the bells and whistles Rocky HD super-ama editions..
I think the way the fight was shot was really good - made it feel very authentic
Very, very good.
I absolutely loved this, great addition to the series and it felt like a proper down to earth film rather than the (admittedly very enjoyable) cartoony rocky 3 and 4.
Sure it follows the rocky formula to a tee but it has such heart you can't help but root for rocky again. I really look forward to seeing this again in january at the cinema with a massive crowd.

In the Sylvester Stallone q&a at aintitcool someone suggested to him about doing bells and whistles editions of all the films and not just the first film and he was very interested. He even mentioned how the studio might even let him as they can market then of course as all new spangly editions :D So I would think it would be a case of watch this space in the future.
Watched this tonight and thought it was much better than I'd imagined it would turn out (though, as said, it does feel very rushed in parts)
7/10 from me
Can't wait for this.
Read and loved the Q&A on AICN and can't believe the positive word of mouth on this so far - have yet to hear anyone say that didn't enjoy it!
(I know it's going make me cry like a baby too :( )
Gonna Fly Now!!!

The fight was very "video" but I remember reading they filmed it between fights last christmas over a few days so I guess they didnt have time to set studio film cameras up etc etc but having said that it added to the film as a previous posted said it looked like a tv fight. Looking at the cameras, I was shocked how good the Sony HD Dv looked. Great piece of kit. A friends just brought one for £3k from the far east, Ill have to have a play!
