I'm still working on it,it's still not 100%.Think the playlist is a bit too melancholy atm (Too much Interpol :)).So i'm going to change it about later on tonight.

Listened to some more of the station, and still really enjoying it; I've added it as a bookmark now, one of only three online radio stations I bother to listen to (the other two being BritRockRadio (which isn't exclusively Brit music, oddly) and Japan-A-Radio). Nice work.

Just giving this thread a wee bump. Don't want it to go to forum heaven just yet :)

Anyway, playlist has been updated and as always I'm interested in your opinions good or bad ;)

Sorry lads, as they say all good things must come to an end. My last broadcast was just last week. I had to finish it due to increasing work and family commitments which meant I couldn't devote enough time to updating the playlist daily which is what I used to do to keep my station fresh.

Having said that, I'm glad to have done it, I only started it, to see if I could actually do it and do it well!

Carrot Rope will make a comeback in the future. Thanks for listening to the station and I hope you enjoyed the songs in my playlists as much as I did. Thanks also for the kind comments.

I can't find that Barney

What section is it under...?
--------------
http://www.beebul.co.uk/imgs/smile/music/music-smiley-014.gif
EDIT:
We should have a DVD Forums station - take it in turns to do playlists: that'd be much more manageable than having to do a playlist-a-day.....

Anyone?

If we get at least 7 people that's one day a week (as you can see Maths was always my strong-point  ).

I get to choose my day though cos it was kinda my idea :D

It's under Alt/Modern Rock and is called Indie Pop Rocks. It is US based so is very Americanised but plays new and classic indie/college tracks such as Pavement, Pixies, Built to Spill, Wilco - all sorts really. Comes up with some real surprises sometimes like playing Field Mice the other day

jmdomain
06-06-2003, 10:28
That's a quality idea. But i'm taking a well earned break. :D
Let me know if you need any help with regards to starting it up, promotion, running costs, building up the listenership etc.

Carrot Rope is now re-broadcasting! :)

Here is the new playlist:

American Analog Set, A.R.E. Weapons, Louie Austen, British Sea Power, The Caesars, Cursive, Estuary English, Gonzales, The Gossip, Grand Popo Football Club, Kings Of Leon, Longwave, The Mars Volta, Moving Units, Rilo Kiley, Royal City, Saturday Looks Good To Me, The Sights, Stiffed, The Thermals, The Thrills, Whirlwind Heat, James Yorkston

Thought i'd say my thoughts on some of the albums i've been listening to for my playlist:

American Analog Set - Promise Of Love (They may make the same album every 2 years, but who cares when it always sounds this good. Another one to put on your list of great American indie bands)

British Sea Power - The Decline Of British Sea Power (They remind me of Six By Seven. Want to see them live.)

The Caesars - 39 Minutes Of Bliss

Cursive - The Ugly Organ (You can't go wrong with this one)

Gonzales - Z (Bonkers record from the Kitty-Yo label. Prankster rap anyone?)

The Gossip - 'That's Not What I Heard' and 'Movement' (Fantastic. Well recommended. Seek these albums now)

James Yorkston - Moving Up Country (An oldie from last year but a goldie. Listen to this on a relaxing Sunday afternoon)

Kings Of Leon - Youth & Young Manhood (Been bandied about as 'The Southern Strokes'. They've just made a rather fine album)

Louie Austen - Easy Love (More crazy shenanigans from the Kitty-Yo label. You'll laugh or cry when you hear it)

Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium (Really like this one. Glad to see a band doing something a bit different in the current musical climate)

Moving Units - Moving Units EP (Their new albums' going to be a stonkingly good one judging from this EP. The album's due in August)

Rilo Kiley Execution Of All Things (A calculated album, but a good one. Certainly tugs at the old strings. 'My Slumbering Heart' sounds like a classic song the Cardigans never made.A good indie pop album)

Royal City - Alone At The Microphone (If you're a fan of Will Oldham and Palace, you'll love this. One for repeated listening)

Saturday Looks Good To Me - All Your Summer Songs (Another great indie pop album)

The Sights - 'Are You Green' and 'Got What We Want' (These guys sound as if they're the A to Z of rock. There's bits of the Sabbath, Zep, The Jam and more!)

Stiffed - Sex Sells (Take a bit of The Clash, a smidgeon of Blondie, give it a wizz and you get Stiffed) :D

The Thermals - More Parts Per Million (I love the no-fi production on this. Even with the constraints of the production, the quality of the songs, shines through)

The Thrills - So Much For The City (Sublime songs. Sublime melodies. Sublime album)

Estuary English - Music From Memphis Industries (Great cover of 'You're So Vain' on this one)

Whirlwind Heat - Do Rabbits Wonder (They were weird live when I saw them support the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and they're even weirder in album form. One for scratching your double chin to) :D

You can hear the highlights from each of these albums here

Cheers. :)

Don't know ben wolland but I have heard of Moco. Think they were the support band for when I went to see the Electric Six. I missed their performance though.

Checked out the website and I'll give the songs a listen.

Just finished the 1st update to the playlist of which you'll find the revised version of in my 1st post. Here's the newies:

Bed (Benoit Burello), The Coral, Electric Six, Jay Farrar, Adam Green,

The new Adam Green and Benoit Burello albums are just :notworthy

With the Adam Green album 'Friends Of Mine' we have a minor classic on our hands.

As ever, you can hear the highlights from them here (http://www.live365.com/stations/jmdomain)

This will be the last update to the station (http://www.live365.com/stations/jmdomain) for a wee while. Included in the update is new tracks by:

Benny Benassi, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Darkness, Jack Johnson, The Mars Volta, Melt Banana, Moco, Mogwai, The Sleepy Jackson, Tahiti 80.

A little about some of them:

Benny Benassi - Hypnotica (The sleazy, warped single 'Satisfaction' is included along with a couple of other stronger songs from the album. What does the album sound like? Well the single 'Satisfaction' sounds like it's a 90s rave record stalking down a catwalk, powered by digitised vocals and a distinctive, distorted bass riff. Brilliant. It's a mental album. If you like the 2 Many Dj's compilations you'll want to get this. A thumping record.)

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - The new single 'Stop' is in the playlist now.

The Darkness - Permission To Land (I've said it before and I'll say it again, The Darkness are a guilty pleasure.)

Melt Banana - Cell-Scape (The latest album by the riotous Japanese noiseniks. Excellent as always. Use this as an antidote if you've subjected yourself to the latest David Sylvian album.) :D

Moco - Were recommended to me, had a listen, sounded good, so a couple of their 4 track demos are in the playlist. The production isn't too dissimilar to a few of the other bands in the playlist. :D

The Sleepy Jackson - Lovers (Would've given this a perfect 10 but 'Sunkids', their best track, isn't on the album so it gets a brilliant 9 instead. A rewarding album to listen to.)

Tahiti 80 - Wallpaper For The Soul (One for fans of the band 'Phoenix'.) ;)

You can find the revised playlist at the start of this thread.

Enjoy.

I bought the album for Too Young which I thought was recommended on these very fora, but for the life of me I couldn't remember by whom. If it was you, some time in the past (you're the only person I've heard mention them): thanks!

As to Carrot Rope: I remember listening to this a while back and thoroughly enjoying it, so I'll be glad to give it another listen (if I can stop listening to this stupidly fine The Mars Volta album). Let's see: how to get this to work in fb2k...

There we go. Well I say! Speak of the devil, and The Mars Volta appear. Great start! ;)

Just a quick note to say that Carrot Rope (http://www.live365.com/stations/jmdomain) will now be updated with new songs daily when possible. New bands that have been added in the past few days:

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Gang Starr, Razorlight (These guys are hotly tipped to do well. From what i've heard their songs are quite good), Richard X.

Check the station page for updated playlists from now on.

Well, would you adam and eve it, Carrot Rope (http://www.live365.com/stations/jmdomain) is now 6 months old and still going strong.

I'm looking into actually doing a live broadcast with me introducing each song and talking about the bands that I play, but that's in the future. I'm not too sure if I want to air my dulcet tones as of yet. ;)

Here's to the next six months, chaps. :)

Big Update for the Carrot Ropeness.

The station has been one of the few selected to beta test the new mp3PRO codec. What does this mean? Well it means that Carrot Rope now broadcasts in stereo CD quality sound!

The playlist for the moment is small as I'm reconverting my MP3's to the new codec. Continual updates are being made. From what I've heard of the codec, the results are very impressive indeed. It's hard to discern between the radio broadcast and the real thing.

Have a butchers, of which you can do here. (http://www.live365.com/stations/jmdomain)
