a.ka. 'let's go back home and get bacon sandwiches/cups of tea/rizla/baccy/booze/stuff we forgot day.

living 10 minutes from temple newsam does have it's advantages :)

residents are still trying to get it banned, though none of the mess/damage actually goes outside the actually park itself, and meanfiddler sort it out anyway.... it's only 1 weekend a year for gods sake

the violence this year was no worse than last, but the media coverage gets more and more every year, and the police presence (or heavy handedness as some people may see it though IMO if you set fire to stuff, you can expect a baton down the back of your thigh) grows each year..... bah!

if it's not on i'll have to go to Reading...ugh southerners....i'm going to V as well the weekend before so that'll give me a chance to get acustomed to them :gag:

Forgive me for asking what is probably a very silly question but, having never been before, can you buy single day tickets to Glastonbury?

I would love to see Radiohead but probably won't be able to make the whole weekend. I realise going for the day isn't going to give me the true Glasto experience but it might be the only way I get to see them there.

?

10-03-2003, 00:58
No you can't mate. The site is too huge, once you're in you're in.. I't's not like a mean fiddler event where you camp outside of the stages. You used to get in for free on Sundays..

Saying that, I suppose you could realistically pay for a day pass on Sunday.

I'm pretty sure it's in the grounds of Harewood House and it's likely they will move it there next year anyway as the contract with Leeds Council runs out this year.

Yeah, took ages to get confirmation but I wanted to use Aloud (which I usually wouldn't touch with someone else's barge pole) because they were the only place I could get a car parking ticket (£5 each incidentally) at the same time. Ridiculous that it didn't come online until what? 10 AM? :oh-hum:

Anyway, got my 4 tickets and car parking pass so I'm happy and my mate who's travelling with us got his, so once finals are over, it's off to Glasto on the Wednesday morning. Result!

Anyhow with the prestigious Sunday slot now being announced as Moby (stuffing heck, they must have run out of money/ideas/numbers in their celeb phone book by the time the sunday line-up was being sorted) the interest will surely now dry up with haste!

Dave....E-Bay are quite happy to allow such auctions (I know 'cos I have done some myself...not for Glastonbury though). Anyway, the only was that you can get them cancelled ('cos it happened to me) is if you write to E-Bay to tell them that the tickets have not been sent out nor will they be for the forseeable future (you have to be able to send out an item that is paid for no later than 30 days after the auction end).

Tickets aren't being sent out/readied for collection til early June (wasn't there a threatened postal strike around post-out time last year or is it my fuddled brain?), I guess with the intention to stuff ebayers etc.

I've also heard reports that people successfully bidding on Glasto tickets on ebay are receiving messages that they'll be refunded as they attempt to block the touting.

Well I wanted to go to Glastonbury this year and now sold out. Why you ask well because so many Ebay low lifes have bought up all the tickets to make a profit on them! Sold out with in 24 hours and listings on Ebay already amount to 247 and those are just listings most are selling at least 2 tickets and some pound life insects are selling over 30! this is the only hope for music lovers

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2168171836&category=16067

If this is true I would be tempted to buy all the tickets and tell the sellers to go swing for their money. Let them chase me in court I am sure the Official Glastonbury Organisers would be more than willing to support me in court!

http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/030401b.shtml

With all tickets for this years Glastonbury Festival having sold out in just 24 hours, Michael Eavis has been telling us just how pleased is to have sold out the event - without the line-up being announced!

Although he recognised that some of the line-up is known, and will have encouraged some to buy that may not otherwise have, he also felt other factors had helped the quick sell, such as the great weather yesterday and people being less happy to travel because of the war. Glastonbury Festival is a ray of light in a sometimes grim world!

Michael was quite unhappy to hear about the number of tickets already being offered for sale - for ridiculous money - on eBay. He told us that eBay and the main ticket agents are working together to deny the tickets to those who are re-selling. As well as that, tickets won't be sent out until very shortly before the Festival, so there will be no time for someone to receive them, and then sell them on. You have been warned!!!!

And he also re-enforced the important message that the environmental damage caused by the Festival has to be reduced. The pollution of the stream running through Worthy Farm is unacceptable, and is putting future festivals in doubt. The following weren't his words, but this is what he means: DON'T **** IN THE HEDGES!!!. Yes, that means YOU too!

The line-up will be released in June. In the meantime check out the most up-to-date and accurate rumours available anywhere - click here - don't accept poor imitations!

cheers mate I had just found that by google search and was about to post the same link
wouldnt it be a shame if all those ebay sellers ended up with egg on their face

although I am sure the answer is simple for them as people do move address so surely all they do is forward the buyers address and name to the ticket company so tickets are sent to them direct

Erm :suspect:

yeah.. can't see it being stopped now. Next year i'm sure they'll work something out. It's weird how much there worth has increased though. My mate bought one last year from ebay for £150.. Same situation but he was really late getting his ticket

They didn't sell out for 8 weeks last year apparently. Even the people who bought ones they don't need because their friends also bought some will be selling them for huge profits after seeing this.

Well I ain't too concerned cos I'll be VIP'ing again but it is a worry that all these idiots are buying them up to sell on for a profit. Turning into something similar to a football affair where all the avid fans can't afford to go on the match.

All from reliable enough sources to suggest they're very likely. Prince, however, should really be moved to the "not very likely" list.

SHHHHHHH!!! Its people saying things like that that make it rain :)
Seriously though, I've been going for 11 years and its only rained badly twice, just make sure youve got a decent pair of boots and some waterproofs just in case. Wellies are a waste of time IMO, the mud sucks em off (Insert George Michael Joke here).
If the worst comes to it, head for the Jazz stage and look left, there you will find the wonders of the 7% pear cider bar, after a few of them you wont care even if it snows :D

Your right of course, when it rains it does put a serious downer on things, but youve got to make the best of it really, not being able to sit down is the worse thing for me, yer legs get really tired. A lot of people buggered off home in 98 I seem to remember, the rain stopped on Sunday but was pretty much solid from thursday afternoon until Saturday night. What can you do? My advice is drink and ignore it But all this is irrelevant as its going to be a scorcher :D

Also try www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk where there is a face value bought & sold section. Worth a punt. Fleabay should be full of them now as the tickets have physically arrived, if the market gets saturated, prices should drop, assisted by the recent REM and Radiohead tour date announcements.

Just noticed Nightmares on Wax, Royksopp and Hybrid are all going to be there :)

Pyramid stage doesn;t look very good on Friday night for me, so i was pleased to see that the other stages were good. unfortunately all of the acts i want to see are on at very similar times (i.e. last):

Death in Vegas, Fatboy Slim, Royksopp, Nightmares on Wax and Hybrid..I think im going to have to pick just two of those :(:(

Well DIV are pretty dull live (Like a goth version of the shadows.) so that should narrow it down to three.

mackam supa stars - Is that a ticket that allows you take a car in? If so I'd like to take it off your hands.

It's the only way to get on the official (hence not run by thieves who are then aware your car will be unattended for five days) car park.

ahhh how was it for everyone then?

My favourite act was Moby, followed by Royksopp, but Jimmy Cliff was also very good

My only dissapointement really was Feeder - didn't seem to put anything into the performace.

Great time though, looking forward to next year already
