Always been a fan of The Dandy Warhols, who seem always to produce consistently decent albums, without setting the world alight, in particular their last release '13 tales etc etc', though this release is a little different to the norm.

Its still a great listen, but the sound is different - electronica is embraced and like the last Charlatans album, Courtney Taylor has learnt to utilise the falsetto :D I think fans will either hate it or love it...it is quite strange to hear at first.

The single 'We used to be friends' is quite representative of the jolly upbeat nature of the rest of the album.

Very nice.

I saw this was doing the rounds this morning,I wasn't going to bother with it but I've just heard the single on the Zoe Ball show and I think it's good.
I'll get round to having a listen in the next few days...

Lou-Is there a song actually called 'welcome to the monkey house' on there? I only ask as there was a song around years ago in the 80s with the same name that they used to play in our school 'dinner club' :D I'd love to hear the Dandys doing that

Animal Nightlife, I think did it.
It's a great track if its the same one I'm thinking of.
It had a chorus with a lot of "ba's" in it! :)

Heheheh the first track is actually called that - runs for just over a minute and sounds pretty odd, so I guess it could be the same tune

Courtney Taylor Taylor Courtney has made synthesizers cool again. :D

Much prefer 13 tales from Urban Bohemia though.

Me too.

The new album is nothing special in fact. Ive probably listened to it once since starting this topic.

The stupid thing is I forgot I had it on pre-order

I like it. But then I liked them pre-Every Day Should be a Holiday so you could say I'm a fan.

First half dozen tracks are stronger than the rest though, no doubt.

I've heard a few of the new tracks on the radio and will probably pick it up eventually, but as others seem to be saying, I don't the quality is as good as 13 tales

I really like this album! 80s synth-pop heaven :)

I think their best album is "Come Down" though - a lot of "13 tales from Urban Bohemia" is heavily inspired by it, with some of the slower tracks almost being note-for-note reworks from the earlier album.

Not a Warhols fan so far, but I really like the track " We used to be friends".

Is it worth buying the Album for just this one track ?
