View Full Version : Jeepers Creepers

What is happening with all the (U.S.) releases of late, everything doing the rounds at the moment stinks!
The latest dirge i've seen is Jeepers Creepers....more yanky teen don't go in there or you'll surely die or maybe you won't crap that rates up there with Afflecks PHANTOMS :p
It was only a few years ago when Hollywood was turning out half decent teen-horror stuff (Scream, I Know What...) now they're happy to make any old script into a film, stop it, stop it now!!!
I actually thought the trailer to this looked decent, and to be fair it does have a couple of OK moments but the bad bits way out weigh those...though i did like the predictable endings parting shot, but given the choice of sitting through this again or cutting my spuds off with a rusty tin lid...i'd have to choose the tin lid!
Oh and Kanedaa if you read this, "sorry...again"

I actually thought JEEPERS CREEPERS was pretty good; sure the film is dirivative and occasionally banal, but the two main characters were well played (& unconventional in the fact that they were brother & sister) and a downbeat ending is always pleasing.
Hollywood hasn't made a decent horror film since probably the early 80s (Apart from SCREAM's opening 20 mins.), but I would recommend JC to any horror fan.

I didnt like the ending and heres why :-
it just ended, it still felt like there was something else going to happen. I've also seen a lot of posts elsewhere where people think he was stealing Darryl's skin and not his eyes at the end.
I'm sure all will be explained in the sequel! :(
Everyone does know this film was made by a convicted child molester.
I didn't know this. :(

I though it was great, way better than most horror films from the last few years. The begining is very creepy, it does loose some of the atmosphere towards the end, but it's still very clever and scary.

I thought the first half hour / 45 minutes was so staggeringly terrifying that I was glad the pace let off after that. A little unsure of the ending - it had gone downhill, but I have no view on the finale as I was ssooooooo desperate for the toilet that I couldn't concentrate! Did like the final shot though... pleasingly throw-away.

I went into the movie not knowing a thing about it, and also found the first 45 mins to be excellent. As soon as it became clear this was just a low-budget monster flick, it becam very dull indeed.
The room with all the bodies on was totally underused. Also I cannot believe that in all the years of this monster being active, that these two kids were the first to try and find out what was going on. Were all the townsfolk totally stooopid?
The effects were so-so, and the "ending" of the film just seemed rushed.

Biography for
Victor Salva
Trivia
Has been making films since the age of 12.
Is a convicted child molester. Confessed in 1988 to five felony counts of sexual relations with a twelve year old boy who he videotaped in sexual situations.
Grew up in San Francisco
Watched this last night, had to test the print :p
It is a big pile of steamin' poooh!
I cannot believe Copolla put his name to it.
To me it was like a poorly written ectended story from something like the 'Tales from the Crypt' series.

There's two decades of evidence to suggest that Coppola is not quite as picky as he used to be. After all, this is the man who directed "Jack".

So how come he is out making films only 13 years later?
Don't such crimes get life?

Judging by the amount of negative comments on this thread, I obviously wasn't the only one who thought this was utter ****** !
From the trailer I thought this would be an ok horror/thriller, and the opening half hour got my hopes up. But then, oh boy, it descended into a farce - I started to wonder if this meant to be a comedy (a la Scream).
How films like this ever get past the studio bosses I fail to comprehend, and that fact that it was suppossedly US No.1 film shows you the standard of American cinemagoers. Or maybe they were duped like us lot...?
See for yourself and have a laff.
Please, please, please - don't go and see this utter garbage. My last 2 visits to the cinema have resulted in me seeing the 2 worst films of my 26 year life - this and Planet of the Apes. What I can't understand is that most critics gave it a favourable review. That's the last time I pay attention to critics or see anything with Francis Ford Coppola's name attached to it. I have never seen anyone detoriate so badly. Next he'll be directing episodes of Neighbours. Oh.. and I am a horror fan, and this makes the truly dire Scream 3 look like a masterpiece.

This is exactly how I felt. The sense of dread built up in the first half was amazing and I jumped out of my skin at least 3 times. Then it goes downhill fast! It didn't help that the monster looked like one of the rubbery aliens out of Deep Space Nine or Babylon 5.

mmm..I'll go along with that - the film could've been 20-30 minutes longer and it would've been more rounded.
I thought this was the reason:
The demon wanted Darryl's skin so he could take the place of him and be the girlie's brother - at least she gave the impression that she'd somehow fallen in love with the demon: getting transfixed before she ran it over and then in the penultimate scene saying "take me instead".
Great opening, *really* crap and abrupt ending.
Don't think I'll be getting it on DVD.

Hey rst - do you work for *Cineworld* in Swinedon?
That's where I watched it - and the print was really noisy - constant buzz all the way through.
If it wasn't for all the girlie's in the auditorium I would have walked out.

I forgot to wait until after the credits - was there something...??

Seen this tonight at the Quay Glasgow, but legged it before the credits finished. :(
Got to my car and noticed a black BMW with Chrome finish parked next to me. All of a sudden Jim Kerr (simple minds) walks up with a blond, they get in the car and drive off.
Well it was a nice car... :D;)
I enjoyed the movie, although the ending was not too good. Had some scary moments...
Anyway, what happened after the credits ???

Total and utter rubbish. I couldn't wait for it to end! Started off well and turned complete crap.
They'll never beat John Carpenter's Halloween!

I dont know in places I thought it was really fun and had the potential to be the horror movie of the last few years but then it all got a bit too silly ........
anyone who has seen it will know what I mean and why did he dress as a man ? because he likes the latest summer fashions or something .....
The parting shot was very well done and I liked the idea of THat the monster can only get you if you are afraid of him because he is as scared of you as you are of him just like in the song
It was oooooooooookay it was a good trashy halloween flick ...shame you wanted 90 percent of the characters to snuff it because the villain was the only non annoying alternative.
Why are we supposed to root for these teens ?
there oh so entertaining verbal battles ?
You can just smell the 1000 straight to video sequels cant you

I thought this film was great! It was scary, corny and at the end, haunting! I now jump at the sound of car horns and the sound the gear stick makes when it stick! rofl!

Am I the only one who thinks he looked like the Demon from Wishmaster's twin brother??
Start was good, then it got pants...very pants. Will NOT be going anywhere near the dvd.
Oh, I thought the female lead was pretty tasty :D

I saw it last night, and I was VERY impressed. I actually found it really enjoyable and was pleasantly surprised after all the negative feedback. It was slightly creepy at times and was good fun. Trish kept her shirt on though :(

I went to see it last night and it was quite enjoyable, though I have to agree with most of you that the ending sucked. I felt it started going downhill after you actually saw the monster properly.
Still the first half was rather chilling and there were some quite funny bits in it, and both main characters were likeable and well played

The Creeper doesn't like plagiarism. It doesn't taste very nice.
Some of the stuff from that reconstruction is shot for shot reproduced in Jeepers Creepers.
