Wow - great day for promos !!

Now, I loved the first 3 eels records to bits, but Souljacker really did nothing for me, so Im glad to report this is a bit of a return to form.

It starts off at quite a pace, very 'rocky' but the pace slows a bit with a certain hint of Beck-ness drifting into some tracks. And there are some great tracks here : middle trilogy 'Dirty Girl' 'Agony' and 'Rock Hard Times' are highlights, but its a very solid album all-round.

Anyone know a release date for this one ?

I'm sure June 3rd is the release date.

Thought SoulJacker was there strongest album but... it required a good few listens before it's quality sunk in.

Fair enough, I just found it very patchy. The good stuff was very good, but half of the record sounds pretty dull to me. Electro--shock blues' is my fave...truly affecting.

i have to say that the first album 'beautiful freak' is an all time favourite that is truly one of my favourite albums of all time, i just hate the susans house track upon repeat listen but its the bees knees

other highlights include

'Birds' off Daisies
'In this world of ****, baby you are it' off souljacker
'LAst Stop this town' Electro-shock blues

I just adore the first album and keep on biying for a repeat of the original, rather like my views on weezer

i liek 3 speed and medication wearing off from electroshock,

Your Lucky Day In Hell, guest list, and flower

not forgetting:

novacane for the soul, last stop this town, and Mr Es Beautiful blues - but those tracks i don't play with my eels music, they are different mood music :|

Absolutely love Daisies but I've recently rediscovered Electro-shock blues - it really is somewhat stunning. VERY moving.

Except "Hospital Food"

Can't wait for the new one...

Picked this up today, I really like it.

Seems "happier" than they're old stuff but not as heavy rock based as Souljacker.

looking forward to this a lot now

I totally agree with that spudman! I've also been listening to Electro-shock blues a lot recently, whilst revising. I reckon its the eel's best album now, apart from Hospital Food, which annoys me. Climbing to the moon is my fave now :)

Likewise RobinL

Electro_shock Blues is amazing - but cannot stand Hospital Food.

A skipper on a shiny disk of joy!
