Can't remember if we've had a thread about these guys yet...anyhow!
13 songs - 28 minutes - perfect.
The production sounds like it was recorded in someones garage, again a good thing with the vocals barely being heard over the racket of the instruments, but the best thing is they manage to sound slightly like Idlewild in places but only kinda...more reminding of 90's indie played at a blistering speed if anything.
Either way worth a listen. Oh and of course they are on Subpop...always a good sign.

He is of course referring to the Thermals import "No Culture Icons" EP/single.
Class act. Like idlewild when they had energy.
yes, the one with the ducks on :D (changed my inane ramblings above as well :p)

It's part of a Dutch site of a non-commercial Radio/TV station. They have lots of stuff on there. This particular site is a called a digital listening pole. Just like in a record store you can listen to a couple of interesting albums.
BTW
If you go to the mainpage 3voor12.nl (http://www.3voor12.nl) you can choose concerts at the top. There you can listen to almost a thousand concerts and see some live performances.
They also have an online TV station where they show clips which you can access here 3voor12.TV (http://pages.vpro.nl/3voor12tv)

Been a little disappointed with new music this year, but fortunately these boys (err and a girl I think) are make to re-inspire the masses...i.e me, gissing and bubba
Anyway their new album is great 'The Body, the Blood, The Machine' be it's name and it's very different to the album that inspired this thread back in 2003, with a lot more oomph and a cleaner production, but the song-writing is still brilliant, in a concise, over in 25 minutes kinda way, and they have learnt some new instruments by the sound of it.
Well worth checking out.
Had it a couple of weeks now... it's a good album, certainly.. but The Thermals have gone and done an Idlewild on us :(
Expect an alt.country release from them soon I bet ;)

Yeah they are definitely more sombre, but they haven't become *****, which puts them a step above Idllewild's change of direction :p
It's worrying as normally I wouldn't appreciate a band distancing themselves from their lo-fi/garage bashing roots...I must be getting old.

Its ok. Pretty disappointing after the first two though. They are coming to the UK in November.

Not impressed with this whatsoever, and I loved the first, enjoyed the second..

Meh, this is getting off topic now, but I'd say that "The Body, The Blood, The Machine" is roughly of "The Remote Part" timescale.
Still a good album, but disappointinly not what they originally intended. The good news about Idlewild is that since Roddy put out that solo album (which was actually a full band one til they realised how folky it was) they want to record something more like the Captain EP.
Hopefully Thermals will go the same way... and by that I mean release a lo-fi album again, not release something like 'Warnings/Promises' :gag:

Definitely agree with you on that - this is one of the best punk-rock albums I've heard in yonks - political, catchy and never outstays its welcome.

That was awesome. If you have the chance, go see them. They have an extra guitarist for the live show now. Just plain brilliant.
