Have just managed to obtain this for £35.
Is this over the top ? , or about the going rate ?

Any guidance appreciated !

Thanks

It’s been re-released by Criterion with a better transfer, more features and the same spine number in a box set with 4 other Truffaut movies which can all be had for about £45. Apparently the improved 400 Blows will also be re-released seperately.

It used to be one of the most expensive, and rare, Criterion titles, as it was one of the companies earliest releases, and one of their first to go Out of Print. To have obtained this title for £35 a year ago would have been a good deal.
However, Criterion have recently announced a boxset of all of Truffaut's Antoine Doinel films - The 400 Blows, Antoine & Collette, Stolen Kisses, Bed & Board and Love on the Run for an RRP of $99.99 to be released on April 29th, which probably explains why the original release has gone down in price. There are more details on the new set at http://www.criterionco.com/asp/boxed_set.asp?id=185.

Edit: I'm too slow :)

Thanks people.

Look like this will be eBayed then.

At least it's cushioned in that Hard Boiled and The Killer were obtained for the same price , or are those overpriced as well ?

The Killer is a great buy at that price as (to a lesser extent) is Hard Boiled. Sure they’re genuine?

I had a personal email from Jon Mulvaney which stated this will not be the case and this has been confirmed at the criterion forums but hey this was about 3 months ago so they may have changed their minds.

No, it’s probably my info that’s out of date. Still the whole set is only £40 at Amazon.ca.

Are you sure your version of the Killer is genuine?

Hope so !

It does have cat.no CC1515D printed on the disc itself , whilst the centre ring around the the dvd is a frost white colour.

The insert itself seems genuine enough, but then ?

Are there any other ways of telling ?
