Soulseek is pretty good for locating legal MP3s.

#altrock on efnet is great for discussing new releases too

Grrr, can't find it yet :brickwall

Can't move for copies of The Stereophonics, but no sign of The Thrills. Oh the injustice ;)

Listening to it just now, and its rather fantastic.

Kinda like Grandaddy but with Brian Wilson writing all their songs.

Only half way through, but its certainly excellent thus far :luv:

'Old Friends New Lover' in particular...:notworthy

Adored everything they've put out so far and thought they were pretty damn fantastic live as well. Made my weekend when you said it was out!

Couldn't trouble you for a treasure map by pm could I mate ;)

PM is disabled, and your email seems up the spout too...:(

Though if its legal MP3s you after, Soulseek is great...

mrwriter

Argh - dunno why my email isn't working (mancastronaut@btinternet.com should be fine??).

Tried Soulseek though. No joy there, just ep stuff - but then I don't usually use p2p so I'm probably looking in the wrong place due to ignorance!

Fated to wait until the end of June for this one I think ;)

Its truly an excellent record.

It took me a couple of listens, if Im being honest, but it certainly makes up for the 'Phonics record :p

Wheres that thread where somebody wanted recommendations for a driving holiday.

Definitely. Still listening to it in the car.

Very good indeed.

Why does their single, which is on the radio a lot, go on about not going back to Dixons? Have they bought a dodgy fridge or are they fed up of 16 year olds trying to sell them extended warranties? :D

Just a quick bump to advise missing their live appearances until you have heard the record because ...erm......they suck live by the sound of their Glastonbury appearance.

Still the record is very good indeed.:D

I thought the Glastonbury performance was disappointing as well... haven't listened to the album, but I thought they were great supporting Morrissey last year and so made sure to check them out on the BBC... didn't do much for me unfortunately... :(

They're an excellent live band. I saw them long before I'd heard the album and can't wait to see them in Stoke again in a couple of weeks.

I only saw two songs on BBC2 (One Horse Town and Big Sur unsurprisingly) and didn't think they sounded too bad? New band and all that - bound to lack a bit of spit and polish. Rather that than some ultra slick live show that sounds identical to the recordings.

Best thing I've seen on the Glastonbury coverage so far was Primal Scream by a mile. SFA were good too, as was the tiny bit of Jimmy Cliff I saw. Presuming I've either missed or their not showing Kings of Leon and Hokum Clones - wouldn't have minded seeing what they were like... Seemed too busy drooling over the Radiohead snoozefest to show much else last night and, again unsurprisingly, I fell asleep while they were droning on ;)

Is this the band who have a video out with them at the beach?

Caught the video the other day but missed the title/band thingy.

I can support "The Thrills sucked at Glastonbury" opinion as they sure did. It wasn't that they couldn't play or sang out of tune, just that there was not as jot of charisma. With no stage presence, what should've been the perfect band in all that lovely hot skin-blistering sunshine became a damn good reason to go for yet another marathon wander round the site.

Bought this on Monday and a bit underwhelmed by it so far.

Loved the 'Big Sur' single, prepared to give it a chance.

Yeah i'm waiting on it.

Hands up who thinks the lead singer sound JUST like the lead singer out of The Supernaturals? Remember them? I thought it WAS them when i heard 'Big Sur'.

For a bonus point, who or what is Big Sur?

Start the clock... :dork:

http://www.usatourist.com/english/places/california/bigsur.html

"Big Sur is located along Scenic Highway One approximately 150 miles south of San Francisco and 300 miles north of Los Angeles. Historically, the name Big Sur, was derived from that unexplored and unmapped wilderness area called El Sur Grande which lies along the coast south of Monterey. Today, Big Sur refers to that 90-mile stretch of rugged and awesomely beautiful coastline between Carmel to the north and San Simeon (Hearst Castle) to the south."

Looks quite nice, so I don't know why they're telling someone not to go back. :suspect:
