My captain is a donkey though!

1047 for me in one team i think.
Ragnar brought up a good point to me, in that will kirtley's points count as he was a sub for sussex.
If they don't then i have 951ish.

A dismal 700 points for me in the Championship matches. Flipping Alec Stewart as skipper, 4x points but gets no catched in 20 wickets.

moko7t8
25-05-2003, 12:32
i wouldn't consider 700 dismal. Should I?

I wish i had only entered one team. A county and 1day team is hard to remember who is in each one.

Next week will be a low score for me probaly.

On the upside I scored more than 2 points.

Anyone know why Koenig never plays in the one-day games?

Probably the same reason why Mark Butcher doesn't for Surrey.

Yup, although I see in the papers this morning they are saying that Butcher might have a chance of getting into England's one day squad for the tri-nation series coming up, but thats a debate for a different time.

Anyone got Chris Read, the Nottinghamshire wicket-keeper, he is out for three weeks with a broken thumb. Story here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/nottinghamshire/2940388.stm) .

Oh and now updated to include Paul Nixon for Chris Read

I was suprised with that, i thought i might be a 1000ish or somethin.
I guess some had mark butcher as captain, wish i did, i have micheal vaughn as captain:nono: , untill next week when mr.stewart becomes captain like he should have been in the 1st place.
I am more impressed with my 2nd team as that has no test players :p
Just wish they printed a super league postion as i think ours would have been healthy to say the least.

Not looking good for him though.

I have got my players in the wrong teams - this is gonna be a long season!!!!!!!!!!

Made a big mistake this week in my chase for the top.
I thought as england had two games this week i would bring in vikram solanki for craig spearman.
Not quite worked out has it.
So far this week c.spearman 198
v.solanki 10
So unless vikram solanki can score a 70+ against the south african's later today (if selected of course) then it has totally backfired :p

1st 3 weeks with my leading team, i had scored just 781:

All mr.richardson in 5th place has to do is gain about 104-105 a week for the last 11 weeks and he has beat me, gaining 100-150 points a week in the regular season is not beyond the realms of possiabilty.

Just exactly how many international players did you transfer in,

Darren gough 90 pts transfered in week 6 for D. Pretorious.
anthony mcgrath 50 pts in week 6 for simon kaitch.
Freddie 204 pts transfered in for robert croft week7 (should have done that one week earlier), he is captain of my 2nd team.

The 3 you know:
Marcus Trescothick in for Graham hick in week 5, straight in as captain.
James Anderson in for Nixon Mclean week 5.
Vikram Solanki in for craig spearman in weeek 7.

So all in all, some good transfers made, as they were not playing or in poor form.
The only one that i would like to take back was Anthony Mcgrath.

Still 5 transfers left, have to use them wisely and more importantly hope i have some luck with injuries.

Like i said it might not be over.

Ragnar
13-07-2003, 09:42

tescothick, kallis, flower and butcher all scoreing 0 this weekend.

It is about time he has got back to form, and this was in a one day match too. He was unbeaten on 144 off just 138 balls although Essex still lost :(

I have always believed that he is a good one day batsman it is just that unlike a lot of other batters he take a long time to get under way but when and if he does he can score quite freely.

Swindon61
13-07-2003, 21:55
Should Darren Gough be chosen for the test side?

My feeling is no.
Even though he is playing well, i would like to keep the current bowling attack together.
Added to that it is not proved he is test match fit yet.

Alan. b
13-07-2003, 22:23
I agree, I would like to see Gough get through some four day county games for Yorkshire first before he is even considered for the test side. If he can prove his fitness then I would have him in the squad and depending on the conditions of the pitch then perhaps in the squad.

Swindon61
13-07-2003, 22:43
Also not forgeting hoggard, jones and ali knocking on the door.
A lot younger team, let them play together for years to come (providing they are doing the job), it can only be good.

Alan. b
13-07-2003, 22:59
Fair point, but during this one day series from what I have seen Gough has been bowling pretty well, it would be a shame to discard him completely because I still feel that he has got plenty more to offer the team plus he would be great motivator for the younger team members.

Swindon61
13-07-2003, 23:09
Likewise Alan, fairpoint about being able to motivate the team and he would be the one experinced head there.
But it seems to be going well at the moment, keep a winning side together and all that.
At the moment it seems if one of the bowlers don't take wkts the others will, a bit like the aussies, if mcgrath don't take any wkts you can take it for granted lee, dizzy and warne will (would in warne's case) and vice-versa.

Swindon61
13-07-2003, 23:12
Another question Alan as you are an essex fan.
Do you think england's relative one-day success was the fruits of nasser hussian's work or is it down to micheal vaughn and his different approach?
Micheal Vaughn seems more light hearted on the outside.

Alan. b
14-07-2003, 08:21
Thats a tough question. There is no doubt that Vaughan is a different character than Hussian and I have no doubt that the players would want to impress the new captain and secure a permanent place in the team. Having said that it was in Nasser team that the likes of Anderson were given a chance so to answer your question it was probably a bit of both.

One final point is not to get carried away after our two tournament victories this summer, the acid test would be if we come up against the likes of India and Australia. Things are ticking along nicely at the moment so lets hope they continue this way.

Alan. b
15-07-2003, 14:12
He is the leading run scorer in first class cricket this season with 957 runs, so if he can make a double hundred today then he will become the first batsman to a thousand runs for the season.

MarkR
16-07-2003, 11:55
So in preperation for the 20/20 Semis and Final on Saturday - who has players involved in this?

I have a player from each of the 4 teams just to cover my options.
One of them is my captain also so potential points x4.

morleyian
16-07-2003, 12:52
5 players (4 teams), 1 as captain also (transferred in this week and it doesn't take a genius to work out who it could be :suspect: )

EDIT: Whoops, have 1 more than I originally thought. Got Worcs confused with Warks :gag: 5 players in finals although I do have 1 bowler in Smith (GLO). What is promising though is that he has the 3rd best E.R. in the competition this year:
http://www.cricket.org/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/2003/ENG_LOCAL/TWENTY-20/STATS/ENG_LOCAL_TWENTY-20_AVS_BOWL_BEST_ECON.html
And considering he's bowled the max number of overs he can, this is a relief for me knowing that he most likely will avoid a multitude of negative points in the forthcoming week

MarkR
16-07-2003, 14:26
I'm no genius and I also don't really have a handle on who's in form etc apart from having a fleeting glance at the points in the onsite shop on a Friday so who you got? :suspect:

I have AM Smith also along with DR Brown of War, Hodge of Lei who is my Captain and Thorpe of Surrey. It doesn't really matter if we say who we have got as no one can make transfers in time for Saturday now.

EDIT: Ealham has just gone on 95 and I have him in my County side. :brickwall

morleyian
16-07-2003, 14:29
Fair enough. I have:

Hodge (LEI)
Bell (WAR)

Mahmood (SUR)
Harvey (GLO) (C)

Smith (GLO)

Here's my chance of narrowing the lead Swindon has at the top.
