M Vaughan (Yorkshire)
Kabir Ali (Worcestershire)
J Anderson (Lancashire)
R Clarke (Surrey)
A Flintoff (Lancashire)
A Giles (Warwickshire)
D Gough (Yorkshire)
S Harmison (Durham)
R Johnson (Somerset)
R Key (Kent)
A McGrath (Yorkshire)
C Read (Nottinghamshire)
V Solanki (Worcestershire)
M Trescothick (Somerset)
J Troughton (Warwickshire)

There's quite a few new faces in there. Darren Gough has returned, but is obviously nothing more than a short-term inclusion.

I'm not too sure about Robert Key as a one-day player.

No Thorpe or Adam Hollioake suggesting that's probably the end of their ODI careers. Collingwood is out through injury. I also think Blackwell, Shah and Kirtley were a bit unlucky to miss out.

Despite his problems, I think Thorpe should be in any England side. He is one of our best players IMO.

Thorpe should be in test and one day teams in front of Key. The day Key is a better player then Thorpe is the day Thorpe needs to retire (which won't be for a very long time).

Also not keen on picking only one keeper when he has a broken thumb.

Steve Harmison will never be a one day player as long as he lives. Also I thought Blackwell bowled far better than Giles in the winter so is unlucky not to be in (but I have heard a rumour about him not getting picked until he gets himself fit.

Could agree more. Didn't his 102 yesterday count for anything. I hope the selectors aren't making him pay for dropping out of a couple of tours.

On the whole quite pleased with the squad - a good selection of new players who have a great chance of establishing themselves.

Maybe they are not convinced that he is reliable enough. After all, he was given a place for the Oz tour, arsed about and eventually did not go. Surely it is better to give it to a player who can be relied upon?

Anyway, this should be about developing our younger talent and it is pleasing to see the line up. I remain unconvinced that Goughie will be up to his old form after his lengthy time off for the injury but we will see.

I agree with you Paul of Darren Gough only time will tell I guess. But I am not with you on Graham Thorpe - he is still one of the best players in England at present. Hopefully his personal problems are behind him, I would just liked for him to be given a chance, it seems a shame to disregard such a talented cricketer.

James Foster is on standby if Read doesn't prove his fitness in time.

If the keepers are good enough for the one-day squad shouldn't they be ahead of Stewart for the tests?

Off topic but there's a good 1 day game on Sky between the Windies and Aussies,West Indies require 54 from 48 balls with 5 wickets left.

And they won it thanks to Wavell Hinds superb 126 not out. he hit more sixes (6) than fours (5). Should be an interesting last match on Sunday where I should imagine that Australia will play their full squad injuries permitting.

Back to the England squad - Flintoff hit 154 and Thorpe hit 156 to follow on from his hundred in the one day match earlier in the week.

Wavell Hinds is on course for another century.

And he got it (103no) and also the man of the series award as the West Indies easily beat Australia by 9 wickets. Brian Lara (75no) finished the match in dramatic fashion by hitting three consecutive sixes of Darren Lehmann. Chris Gayle was the man of the match for his five wickets and 60 runs, the first WI batsman since Viv Richards to get five wickets and score more than fifty runs.

So Australia win the series 4-3, it would have been interesting if there was still a couple of match's still to play.

I think the Aussies just wanted to get home to be honest.Their performance all round was sloppy especially the fielding,it was just like watching England.
