More and more sites seem to be reporting the possible bid from Celtic to sign Solano. I would be disappointed to see Solano go as he has been a consistent performer for NUFC over the last 2-3 seasons. The fact that he wants to play for Peru again should not be a factor in whether he plays for Newcastle next season - he has every right to play for his country. If he does leave and his replacement on the right is Bowyer it would be a hugh disappointment and a fine player for the Toon would be lost.
Agreed - top player who scores a decent amount of goals
You do have the lure of CL football though - how do Celtic stand as r/u?

Would be a an excellent signing for Celtic if they could get him.
As runners up Celtic have 2 qualifying rounds for the CL,Rangers have 1.

Naaa, it's just rubbish. Every year Solano is linked with a transfer to another club. Has it happened? No.
Remember how he was linked with Athletico Madrid. They even had a picture of "him" in a full strip in one of the newspapers.

That's just not right is it :(
Celtic get to the UEFA Final and come second in their league and yet only equate with Chelsea who were 4th?
Do Chelsea have 1 or 2 qualifying rounds? It is 1 isn't it - that would be even more of a tragedy.
Celtic are seeded in both qualifiying rounds though :)
Next year, the champions of Scotland will get an automatic entry into the CL (because of Celtics recent European run).
Solano would be a good signing for Celtic although I don't know how this sits with the statement from Celtics chairman that they have no money!

Both Newcastle and Chelsea have one qualifying round.

Why? What's tragic is that Celtic were in the UEFA cup at all after failing in the champions league (along with lots of others).
The qualifications are a reflection of a countries record in Europe. Scotlands entitlements will now improve.

They played to the rules, and in the spirit of the competition. There's NOTHING tragic in that. What's tragic, is the way Uefa destroyed 3 great competitions, and left us with two substandard ones.

Gotta agree with you there.
Champions league should just be for the campions.
Even if that means my belovid NUFC won't be in it(well at least not next season ;) )
