...what an idiot.

If he says 'the Audley Harrison show' one more time I may have to begin boxing training.

What I've just been watching on BBC1, as this just happen, or is this a repeat of some sort.

What you just watched happened earlier tonight.

Audley Harrison made a big mistake grabbing the mic and speaking to the fans.

Just have to wait for the result of the inquiry.

:oh-hum:

] Yep, he instigated the riot. If Audley didn't act like a schoolgirl and ask the crowd who he should fight next, there would have been no trouble. It's like inviting the KKK to a party at Ice Cube's house.

Train? I take it you mean 20 pints followed by a dodgy kebab a couple of times a week as that's all it would take to beat ol' Audinary.

That was completely idiotic what Harrison did by turning the fans on Herbie Hide cos he always loses it when he feels like people are taking the mick or belittling(sp?) him. The thing is, is that until that moment Hide was behaving impeccably (a first for him probably) but there's no excuse if he did what I heard he did, which was knock a woman out from the audience as he left :oh-hum:

The thing is I'd fancy my chances against Harrison, and yet he still continues to think hes a quality fighter. Hide may be a bit , but if Harrison started taunting me I'd want to smack him as well (in fact I do anyway).

Hide is starting to take his career seriously again under Steve 'Crocodile' Fitch regime. Both fighters are of similar age (31?) and wtf has Harrison ever done? Oh yeah the olympics .

Being the cynical ol' sod that I am, I wouldn't be surprised if last night was staged to generate interest for an upcoming PPV fight, When does Harrisons' contract with the BBC end :suspect:.

Looking closely at the footage last night, Herbie IMO didn't actually do anything wrong.

Audley had his hand all over everyone, trying to calm the situation down, which he should've really left to the security staff.

BBC are partly to blame for Herbie being there as Richie Woodall said, trouble follows Herbie wherever he goes.

This time Herbie is not to blame, the security staff could have handled the situation better.

Also they were far too close to the ring.

I thought in the interview in Audley's dressing room afterwards, that Audley was going to punch the interviewer for daring to question his conduct after the fight.

I reckon after this Audley's plans will be put on hold because of the stupid comment he made in the ring that started all of this off.

Sure Audley apologised, but trying to pin the blame on others.

I not a great boxing fan but I saw what went on last night.:oh-hum:

For a sport (heavy-weight boxing) that has little or no credibility what Harrison did was stupid. It was like something out of the WWF. I dunno what Frank Bruno was doing either, he should stick to panto & forget the boxing.

Neither Audley Harrison or Herbie Hide strike me as top-notch h/weights but as the divison is pretty bereft of talent they'll get their title shots.

Is Lewis still the undisp. world champ?

BBC should ditch 'The Audley Harrison Show' & concentrate on better home-grown fighters. Up here Scott Harrison is a cracking fighter, World Champ too. I'd like to see his fights on the BBC.

Maybe I was wrong in my opinion about Hide not being to blame after reading this article:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2094-699427,00.html

But Audley still didn't help the situation.

I get what people are saying but Hide is a loose cannon. Trouble follows him a little like a Tyson wannabe even has his entourage now. This was meant "imo" to be a bit hype if they eventually get it on, which went wrong.
Audley should not have got the mic etc. Although Hide should just put up with it and let his fists do the talking and show some class. As for being belittled well maybe, but to react like that . Some boxers are aggresive people. Thats what makes some of them get into it. I trained seriously for 3 years amateur level.
It teaches you respect and discipline. Hide needs to remember that.

I just read an interesting article that said that BOTH Harrison and Hide will have their licenses to Box revoked if they are found guilty of instigating the "riot" at Bethnal Green (the head investigator of the BBBC* was on the scene straight after the fracas ended & he wasn't impressed at all with what he heard Harrison did)

This one could be interesting... :suspect:

* = not a mistype, I'm referring to the British Boxing Board of Control :)

While Harrison can be a bit of an idiot at times, those who have claimed, on this thread, that he is crap are showing signs of similar stupidity.

This is a man who won the Olympics and, as any true boxing fan will tell you, that is one hell of an achievement. I'm sure that even Ali would rank it up there with his proudest moments.

But amateur boxing is more of a sport, he's a boxer. At the top level of heavyweight boxing, I think you need to be a bit of a fighter too e.g. Tyson.

I don't think Audley meant to make things worth by taking hold of the microphone, he was trying to stop it from what I saw but there is little that could be done by that stage. From what I've read/heard it kicked off after herbie pushed a woman.

There was no where near enough room around the ring though and security looked poor

Its what Audley said when he first got the mic that kicked this off, I don't think it matters that he tried to calm the situation down as it may be deemed he instigated it.

Well TBH Harrsion saying to the crowd "and what do you think of Herbie Hide?" after they had cheered Bruno was really stupid and thoughtless. What did he think a man like Hide was going to do! It was obvious he was going to kick off with over 1000 people booing him, so yes it is Harrison's fault and telling people to stop fighting after you instigated it doesn't mean that he is any less to blame than he is.

True enough I suppose, he should have known he would have got a reaction from Hide. Wouldn't mind seeing those two in the ring together though

If the BBBC take a very dim view of what happened, it would probably end up as a bare knuckle unlicenced fight in a back alley.

Scott Harrison is indeed a superb fighter.

Sky Sports cover all his fights as part of their deal with Frank Warren and give them the coverage they deserve. :)

His next bout is on July 12th against Manuel Medina. If he wins that then he could be facing Barrera in September which would be a cracker.

He'd certainly provide better entertainment for Licence Fee TV than they got for their £1m+ paid to Audley Harrison.
