DV video to DVD

Can someone help me here please with dvd burning?

I have tried various software to capture DV video from my Panasonic dv camcorder. They all capture the video footage fine.
I have tried Power Director pro, SOnic MY DVD, and NEro Vision Express.
All seem to write to dvd ok as well, but when I try to play the dvd on my LG 4950 dvd player it comes up with the message "Check Disc".

I am using Datawrite 4x speed discs. I have copied other peoples dvd discs and burnt discs and they play fine on the LG so what is going wrong?
Is it a burning issue, an encoding issue or a media issue?

Does the LG support the media though? Are these other discs you have tried on the same media? Can you find the settings they used to make the discs?
