Don't follow cricket or know anything about Alec Stewart, but Can't imagine why Becks, Arsene or Houllier even came into the running.
Should try and put Masanevre's name forward next year, he'd get one too going by these names :gag:

Out of the names mentioned in the story Stewart is the only one that deserves the accolade.

Last night a source close to Her Majesty’s top-secret birthday honours list said: “It’s a real soccer treble"

Yeah, of course they did..

What's Stewart done that Beckham hasn't?
The whole honour system is a farce anyway - what bloody empire?!

I don't think foreigners can get obe's can they? If they can I don't think Houlier would get anything.

they get 'honourary' er, honours.

That's why Bob Geldof is an honourary Sir - from the Rep of Ireland.

Or something.

What he has achieved at Aberdeen alone, like winning the Scottish league title/s, domestic cups, European Cup Winners Cup, European Super Cup all with a small club and a really tiny budget to match is as close as anyone can get to achieving the impossible

I laughed when i heard this, its another thing that Beckham should thank his PR for (to go with the England Captaincy).

An OBE stands for Order of the British Empire and he would be known as David Beckham OBE.

Brian Clough :(

He won the European Cup twice with Notts Forest, and he's not a Sir :nono:

I don't agree with any of this mbe, obe nonsense, but I would say if fergie deserves it, then clough does too.

Having said that, people are seriously understating Fergies acheivements at Aberdeen. When he went there, they'd won the league only once in their history. By the time he left, they'd won it 3 more times, and a european trophy. All with a relavtively tiny provincial club (Forest would have been 2 or 3 times the size in gerneral terms), against two clubs who between them have now won 88 league championships (the gulf at the time between aberdeen and the old firm, was far greater than the gulf between forest and the teams around them).

That alone, before his Utd success should be as worthy as the next man, considering what he had to work with and what he turned them into. And then he went on to more than double the number of league championsips Utd have won.

As much as anyone here hates the man, honesty would have to prevail.

Really, isn't an OBE far more than that. His general attitude towards people in the game is poor, and his son's/his interests in the agents business is less than wholesome
