Can any one tell me why my multi region player (eclipse 695) wont play a region 1 disk.

What do you mean by "won't play?"

Does it specifically say that it's the wrong region and lock up, or does it appear to be playing the disc but without anything helpful emerging like a picture?

Also what titles are you trying to play? Are they RCE or not?

The fan starts like it is about to come on, but the it stops and says "no disk"
I got the player from Richer sounds and the guy said it was MR, should i take it back!

Sounds like a faulty DVD to me - have you tried a different R1 disc?

Davy, take back the player with the disc(s) that don't work so you can show the guys there what is wrong

Before taking it back, do the following:

1. Try a different R1 disc on the player;
2. Try the original R1 disc on another player that you know works correctly.

It may be multiregion, but not all region. Ie you may have to set it to the region that you want to play, I do with my player.

How do i change the region so i can play a R1 dvd. Is there an guide on the net?

If the guy who sold the player said it was multi-region, then ask him how it works. Otherwise I think you have a case for returning the item.

The hack for the Eclipse 695 if you'd like it.

Switch the player on.
Open the disc tray.
Press 7, 4, Enter.
A menu will then be displayed.
Change the region to 13 (so that the player will play all regions).
You can also disable the macrovision by going to the next screen and chaging the number next to Macrovision to 0.

This is quite a good all round budget DVD player!
