I just got my replacement camcorder from the insurance and this new model has a 'slim' mode.
From the looks of things it seems to be an anamorphic mode - filling the 4:3 area with a vertically stretched 16:9 view.
However, I just wondered if it's actually providing a genunine increase in resolution or simply stretching the output from the CCD pixels in the 16:9 area?
If it is I am tempted to film stuff in it so that it looks fine on my widescreen TV, and so that if I was author it to DVD in some way it could be anamorphic.
Not much point if it offers no more resolution than the 'matted' cinema mode, however...
Cheers
