Just to let you know that the new Lord of the Rings Trailer is now available to download from the official site.
The trailer was premiered on US TV yesterday evening with the new season of Angel.
It's available in 4 sizes (small 3mb, medium 9mb, large 19mb and full screen 30mb). The full screen version is well worth the download (if you have the time or broadband)
All the above trailers are available in quicktime 5 to stream or as a downloadable zip file.
I gotta say I am really looking forward to this film :)

Excellent trailer - superb even.
Gives more of a flavour to the movie and lots of new snippets :)
Its gonna be a Star Wars and even Titanic beater in terms of gross I reckon ...

As a huge LOTR Fan i was blown away. Im gonna be so bold As to say its the best movie/s ever, and it has not been released. All the characters were played brilliantly, especially Gandalf and Elrond. No complaints, utter masterpiece. Bakishi what were you thinking? :D
I have tried really hard to not see that much of the film, but my brother is a huge LOTR fan (as I am) and he's tried to get as much info as he can on the new films.
I would'nt have known about the new trailer if it was'nt for him, and I must say that this looks like it's going to blow away all of the blockbusters this year (although it has'nt really had that much competition!!), lets just hope that it does the books justice.
Roll on December, :)

I personally her acting has improved immensely of late... still waiting to see One Night At McCool's but everyone I know who has seen it has told me she was excellent in it...
And she's pretty easy on the eyes an' all ;)

Everytime I've tried to watch it, my machine locks up, and I have to switch it if at the mains :( So I've seen, 4 seconds, 6 seconds and 2 seconds repectively
Jesus Christ! This looks amazing!! Could be the best film (all 3 together) ever made if its half as good as the book!!!

Nice One! Some superb CG work in there which is always good to see. Really looking forward to this one now. Although have to remember that you shouldn't judge a film by it's trailer. The Phantom Menace trailers looked awesome and look how that one turned out!
Never really been a big Tolkien fan though. I read The Hobbit about two years ago and I thought it was dull as ditchwater. Is Lord Of The Rings more of the same?
Is Lord Of The Rings more of the same?
Nope - The Hobbit is a kids book - LOTR is much better and I found the first book fantastic.
Got a bit bored with the third book though.
Gotta agree with Warren, the hobbit is a completely different read to Lord of the Rongs, although it does help to have read the hobbit beforehand as the story carries on from that to an extent.
Shouldn't that be The Lord of the Wrongs?:D

Cool, thanks guys. I might just give it a read. Now I have to decide whether to wait until I've seen the movies! :)
Oops, everyone knew what I meant :)
Jazzatola, I would read the book first as it may give a better insight into the characters etc before you see the film.
There are also some difference between the book and the film (not necessarily a bad thing) missing sections that I would recommend you read before seeing the film.
Word of warning if you do decide to read the book, if you don't lik the singing that was in the Hobbit, it's in Lord of the Ri ngs too, skip the songs if it makes it easier to read, as they don't really add much to the story.

Definetley read it you crazy man :D greatest book ever. Dont know how you could get bored with it, ive re-read it loadsa times now. I have to be nitpicky and say, the shot of Galdriel kissing Frodo`s head, she looks real strange, and I wasnt as shocked as some people about the Liv Tyler changes, but her line is kind of cringeworthy, i would have prefered just Frodo riding away from the Black Riders like in the book. Overall wonderful trailer, especially the Balrogs foot right at the end.
And I know its a bit early, but the amount of Making of vids on the official site, plus theve got 100`s of hours of on set footge, looks like the DVD package should be the best ever :D

Oh, just to let anyone who wants to see the new trailer know that it will be shown on the movie chart show on Channel 5 at 11:35 am. Be quick!
I have to say that this trailer looks superb.
CGI effects seem to be coming into a whole new realm of possiblities with Spider Man and this film. Before the effects looked good but out of place where as now it looks unbelievably real.
With 2 more star wars, two more matrixes and Spider man. And also another 2 LOTR films its gonna be a good time to be near a big kitted out cinema.
I'm really looking forward to this film, when is it out this side of the pond ?

Which version did you download? If you downloaded the .mov file, it might be that you havent got the newest version of quicktime. December 14th, i wish, i suppose getting it the same time as those yanks is something to be happy about.

Thats the one I downloaded. I just managed to watch the QT movie on the site. In order to dot hat I had to download a plugin for QT. The film looks amazing!! Only watched it in Medium but damn it looks good. (Have just started the book, wish I could read faster :()
Still cant get my full screen zip to work though :(
I started reading the books too and am half way through the second book - the bit in Fangorn Forest. Just wanted to have read Part 1 before the film (is that wise?) and I think it looks as though it's going to be Amazing. The books are fantastic too - so deep and rich!
Can't wait!

I haven't yet downloaded it. But I think the reason that you can't get the zip file to work is because it is not a movie format. It is a compressed file. Goto www.winzip.com (I assume) and download winzip. Use this utility to uncompress the zip file and then use Quicktime 5 to play the movie file

Sorry, my last post may have been a little miss-leading. I have unzipped it but the file I am left with will not play. I have QT5 and everything else I have works just not LOTR :(

I really looking forward to this one thats for sure.
These days I don't bother going to the flicks anymore, too pricey and always full of pratts talking over the film.
I just wait for them to arrive on dvd, which these days isn't too long, but I will have to to see this one first at the flicks can't wait for the dvd.
Haven't read the books for about 15 years(in fact haven't read many books at all in the last 5 years) . Got the day of work today so going to have a hunt around see if i have still got them,if not a trip to amazon is in order.

The thing thats getting me most excited about this movie is the fact that Enya has made two brand new track to be included in this movie. She is singing in Sindarin and one may be come out as a single. There is an Enya video with clips of the film to be released to tv and radio outlets. Enya's new Dvd comes out this month and so far it looks like her Lotr vid will not be included on this disc although the Region 1 version has been put back further in Nov so you never know.

Saw lord of the rings when it came out(I was about 5 at the time)so can't really remember it, after watching the trailer I have this need for all things ringy :D The "cartoon" version as you call it is pretty good. It is an interesting interpretation of the book to say the least. Ralph Bakshi is probably one of the greatest animation legends of the 20th century, but this isn't like his other work ("Fritz the Cat" etc).
It has a gloomy feel throughout, and feels a bit awkwardly placed, but it does what it sets out to do and is enjoyable, although the final battle goes on for a bit too long.
Incidentally, this is only about half of the entire story. A second part was going to be made, but United Artists left Bakshi high and dry -- you have to remember this was at the height of the "cool" era, where everything had to be based on an action figure or have some message about saving the planet.
The animated version was a pretty brave venture. I think you should enjoy it, but don't be surprised if it is VERY contrary to your own vision of the story.

Now I'm intrigued. Why is it quite important? Sorry, I'm nosy.
My quick internet searches don't bring up any rental VHS info. It seems people only start keeping records of such things with laserdisc and DVD details. I'm sure you've looked harder than I have. Sorry.

it is to do with something that today became a formal police investigation, and the date this title became available to rent from would have helped in terms of narrowing down an exact timeframe as opposed to being vague in relation to one of the incidents. Can't really go into anymore detail at this moment in time, but if things fall into place and end up where they should do, and more importantly justice is served I will post a thread in the general forum at the appropiate time.
I also searched the internet high and low and came up blank as well. which is why I posed the question here in the offchance someone may have known.
