The remote has a little joystick for menu navigation surrounded by a jog wheel, and there's a button on the side which you can press to make the main controls (play, pause etc.) light up. Not sure about the hi-bit processor. The Legato thingie is a sound enhancer; haven't played with it yet thought so I don't know how good it is (got a very basic setup too, so not sure if it'll have much effect).

Simmon:p
basically means that its using the audio stages found in Pioneers CD Audio players / recorder and MD Decks for better audio playback (like the switchable audio stages sony used on the old Sony DVPS715, 725 and S7700).
Picture quality is the same, but remember unlike the Toshiba SD210 et al, the DV444 and DV545 have a 54mhz video dac:)
Its also got the same remote control as the DV737 and DV939A
Justin,
Do the twin SCARTs on the 545 offer RGB passthru, so devices can be daisy-chained together ?
Thanks,
Nige

The 737 does, so I would hope this one does too. Is great cos I can now get my PS2 in rgb without any faffing.
The remote with the 545 is MUCH better than the other one. MUCH.
But the 444 looks cooler.

Yup! :p
Cool !
And at the risk in being a pain in the a**e, could you let me know what "trick play" features it has ? I'm specifically interested in FF speeds cos my Sony 336 only has two and I really miss a faster one.
The Pioneer site doesn't have this sort of information, and my local Sevenoaks Hifi doesn't have any glossies yet. Even trawling USENET came up a blank, but I see it has a good slow-mo and half-speed.
Fanx.

Unfortunatly, you might be disappointed with the Pioneer.
I have been put off of Pioneers in the past because they don't have decent FF/Rew speeds and the same is true for the current models.
They now offer 1/2/3 speed, which is like 2x 4x and perhaps 8x, so its better than before.
However, what they do have, which seems good (And this might be common, I don't know) is the ability to type in a 'time' and jump to that point.
So, you could type 5 0 0 0 and go to 50:00 in the film.
But the Pioneers are still unlike many player, including my Samsung which does 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x
