Went to see this last night.

I love the guys movies, but this is absolute tripe. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. As with the Tuxedo it looks like it went through russian roulette editing, hoping that a story would form randomly. Maybe they should have hired 100 monkeys and given them 100 years!

At least with the Tuxedo it was an inflight movie and i did not have to pay.

God, Jackie get your act together. Give us another Police Story!

End of rant!

Both this and the Tuxedo are made bearable by their leading women, JLH and Claire Forlani. Now if you were to put both of them in a film, make it an 18, drop jackie and add some.....;) :D

I think the studio has a lot to answer for insisting this be cut by 23% for the American market.

it's a disgrace the problems that were caused by the editing/forced cuts to this film. But then again it serves Jackie right for being an American Cash Whore.

He should be happy with what he's achieved and stick to what he is good at: choreographing proper fight/action films with a touch of comedy. Do it back East with his proper stunt team and lay off the OTT body crunching stunts and stick with CGI-free hand-to-hand stuff.

Ultimately, it's time he gave up doing the fighting himself instead producing JC Stuntteam films letting Brad Allen & co get a bit more limelight.

I enjoyed RH and SN but it's getting a bit dull already, and future projects like around the world.... and the bellboy sound pathetic. He's not doing anything he is famous for, and nothing that a thousand others couldn't do either.

Give it up Jackie before you lose all your original fans in place of 12 yr old americans.

shame, ive been dissapointed with his last 2 films as well.

Tuxedo was crap and Shangai Knights was average at best.

I dont think he should quit though, theres plenty more movies left in him and I cant wait for Rush Hour 3!

I thought Shanghai Knights was really good, but not necessarily as a Jackie Chan movie, I just found it entertaining cos of the story and how they interweaved characters.

But I too wish he would go back to his Hong Kong days of film making.

Well The medallion is strictly a HK movie and what about the terrible accidental spy? ... I don't think going back to HK will increase the quality in his output ... If anything the Rush Hour and Shanghai series are easily the best movies he has made after such classics as DM II ... so I don't think you can blame Hollywood for everything.

Well I watched this and i thought it was very entertaining and 10 times better than the awful Tuxedo.

I think some people are being a bit too harsh on Jackie here, the guy has earned the right to take things easier. especially at his age. Sure the fighting here isn't exactly his old style (mostly wirework) but the film kept me entertained for the entire running time and seeing this after watching the quite bad HK film The Twins Effect I was grateful for this as I at least had a good time watching it

I personally dont rate the Rush Hour movies that highly because of the extremely annoying Chris Tucker. The guy should have been put down at birth he irritates me that much. The movies themselves aren't too bad, still enjoyable enough, but Jackie would have been better off with someone else in those films.

I would say Mr Nice Guy, Rumble In The Bronx and Who Am I ? are far far superior films to the Rush Hour series and they were made after DM 2.

Shanghai Knights is definitely his best hollywood movie by far IMO - very funny and the best fight choreography out of all the hollywood movies he has done. I look forward to Shanghai Dawn very much.
