View Full Version : Eddie Murphy Stand Up Raw/Delirious
Anyone know if this is coming out on DVD for any region? Can't seem to get it anywhere. Cheers.
I've only seen Raw and it's one of the funniest things i have ever seen...
I've heard Delirious is even better than raw.

Kain^
It's a toss-up which is funniest - best stand-up shows ever - even better than Robin Williams.
:)
Unsure if this is true or just rumour...Eddie Murphy owns rights to the 2 stand up shows (Paramount just had distribution rights) & that he wasn't allowing release due to his new 'family' image as the stand up contained some strong stuff...or sumfing like that
I got Raw on video and it is funny as ****, I remember seeing delerious years ago and it ws even better!
Please release it on DVD eeeedddddddiiiiiiieeee.
I would also love to these make a dvd release. I have watched both films so often that once upon a time I knew them both word for word! :dork: Infact, so did everyone else in the college!!
Don't come too fast now, or i'll clench up my buttcheeks and rip yer... off!
classic stuff.
Try and get the vcds!

I think thats the bit where he talks about the fight in the night club and all the bortha's sue him, someone shouts out that they are asking for half- like the wives.
Well thats certainly a part where he starts laughing, not sure if its exactly what you are referring to.

I am desperately looking forward to dvd versions of these two shows. I got Raw on VHS, but Delerious is very hard to find. DVD releases would be very welcome indeed.

I might have to keep my Vcds of this two amazing shows. Eddie Murphy is simply brilliant on these two shows and it is a pity is not open to release them.
Two of the funniest bits:
The Stevie Wonder and James Brown gags.
Simply amazing stuff:lol: :notworthy

God only knows why he doesnt go back to that style, not just the stand up but the films he made back then like 48 hrs. Lets face it the reprisal wouldn't be any worse than the drivil he is making now.

So many funny moments to choose from, in most stand up routines there are regular lulls, but with these two films Murphy pretty much gets it right all the way through.
Favourite bit has to be in Raw when he's impersonating he's drunk father singing old motown songs incorrectly:
"Respec' Eddie! Respec'! [Starts singing] What we want, baby i got it, what we need, you know i want it, all i'm asking, is for a little-respect-mofo, when you come on home, baby. [Speaking]Hold on a minute [puts phone down, dances and picks up the phone again]. Ooooo, your kiss is, sweeter than honey. R E S P E T C, find out what it means to me. R E S T C C P...Mofo you know how to spell it!"
:notworthy
For that alone all of his later sins are forgiven.

RAW has been officially announced for Sept 7th.
Eddie Murphy's very popular stand-up video Raw will find its way onto region 1 DVD from September 7th. According to Paramount it will be presented with an anamorphic widecreen(!) transfer as well as a Doby 2.0 Surround English audio track.
There will be no extra features.

It's unlikely that Delirious will see the light of day. Murphy toned down his act slightly on Raw, but on delirious he does say a few disparaging remarks about Gay people. Now it doesn't really bother me but Murphy is the right holder and he's said that it won't be released.
So there you go.

I see Shaun Wright Phillips has been working on his Eddie Murphy impression while warming Chelski's bench.
I love Raw, so I hope this is as good as people say. Will definitely pick it up.

enjoyed Delirious far more than Raw
Raw, performance- and filmed-wise seemed far too polished (plus not as funny)
Watched Raw for the first time a month or two ago, funniest stand-up I have ever seen. I have watched it a few more times since and completely forgot that Delirious is supposedly a better show. Cant wait for it, definate pre-order:D
I've heard both RAW and delirious (audio rips). Both are great but i think delirious gets my vote. The 'fart game' gag is the best :D
It's worth it alone for the Mr T jokes :D
haahha
dont get me started about eddie murphy standup
soo funny
i pretty much almost soiled myselve laughing!!
so many classic moments...
"I GET AN ICE CREAM! "
i would if you could actually go back to that stuff ... but at times you remember how good he was when doing voice roles in mulan and shrek, even the PJ's for example...

in this day and age, and Eddies more mainstream persona now I never would have thought Delirious would ever see the light of day.

Saw Delirious in my early teens not long after it came out. Absolutely nothing has ever made me laugh so much nearly 20 years later. So many quotable lines. It's a pity to see such a funny man become what he is today.
I've got em both on DVD. Admittedly a DVD I made myself from the VCDs, but both shows on one disc, with chapters (that I made myself). Delirious is a million times funnier than Raw, he was still this young kid off Saturday Night Live when he did Delirious, he was this big-time comedian and film star (with fingerless gloves!!!!!) when he did Raw.
I have an ice-cream...
You dropped your ice-cream....

Apparently it's coming next year:

Curiously Delirious had 11 seconds cut from it by the BBFC when it was submitted back in 1986... they were a bunch of nutters back then though.
Must have been some langauge cut presumably?

Full Press Release
THE ICE CREAM MAN IS COMING TO DVD!
Entertainment Studios Home Entertainment and Starz Home Entertainment
Are Proud to Release For the First Time Ever
EDDIE MURPHY DELIRIOUS On DVD
Aunt Bunny and Her Mustache Are Arriving on DVD February 6, 2007
TORONTO, ON Entertainment Studios Home Entertainment (ESHE) and Starz Home
Entertainment announced today that the classic, comedy concert, Eddie Murphy
Delirious, will be made available for the very first time ever on DVD
Tuesday, February 6, 2007. (pre-book January 10, 2007). Eddie Murphy
Delirious changed the face of stand-up comedy and influenced some of todayıs
most popular cutting edge in-your-face comics including Chris Rock and
Dave Chappelle.
The year was 1983 and NOTHING was sacred! Jokes about puberty, dating, Mr.
T, disciplinarian mothers, and the personality traits of Michael Jackson
were all fair game when the man in the red leather suit took the stage!
Eddie Murphy Delirious arrives on DVD boasting brand-new special features
including an Eddie Murphy Interview hosted by Byron Allen and ten minutes of
never-before-seen footage.
We are proud to distribute this very special DVD along with Starz Home
Entertainment, says Byron Allen, chairman and CEO of Entertainment Studios.
I have known Eddie for more than 25 years and have enjoyed collaborating
with him on the special features and other aspects of this incredibly
popular and highly-anticipated DVD.
This is a tremendous property to distribute under the Starz Home
Entertainment label, stated Bill Clark, executive vice president and
general manager of Starz Home Entertainment. By capitalizing on our retail
relationships, and utilizing Mr. Allenıs great celebrity contacts as well as
his expertise in the comedy arena, we are confident that Delirious will be
a leading release in the first quarter of 2007.
Entertainment Studios Home Entertainment and Starz Home Entertainment will
support the DVD release of Eddie Murphy Delirious with a comprehensive
marketing campaign reaching millions of consumers including advertising on
Entertainment Studios network of TV shows reaching 30 million consumers per
week.
Eddie Murphy Delirious is classic Eddie Murphy at his best and shows why he
is the ORIGINAL KING OF COMEDY! Taped live and in concert at Constitution
Hall in Washington, D.C. in August 1983, the stand-up special originally
aired on a then-fledgling cable network called HBO.
Eddie Murphy Delirious will be released just after the anticipated
theatrical release of Dreamgirls starring Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, Beyonce
Knowles and Danny Glover on December 25, 2006. Murphy is also starring in
the feature film Norbit with Thandie Newton (Crash) and Cuba Gooding Jr.
(Jerry Maguire), which will open on February 9, 2007 and was written by
Charlie Murphy.
So it has an interview with Eddie and ten minutes of
never-before-seen footage.
Good stuff.

Okay done some research:
The line "I can't perform without my heroin" was cut from the UK version.
What a strange thing to cut! Obviously done for PC reasons; should certainly pass uncut these days though...
