The replacement for the Pioneer NS-DV55 home theatre system (ie the NS-DV77/88) has some lovely optional extras, namely

The Pioneer CT-L11 Cassette Deck
The Pioneer MJ-L11 MDLP Minidisc Recorder

I've got an NS-DV55 and am wondering if these can be connected to it.

Basically, I guess it will come down to what what connectors they use. ie do they take power from the NS-DV77/88 subwoofer (like the DVD unit does on the NS-DV55), or do they take power from the mains? Also, do they connect via standard phono/aux audio connectors or some stupid proprietary connector that I won't find on the NS-DV55?
I've looked on net but can't find any info regarding this. Help!

Oh, and does anyone know if they're actually any good? :D

Cheers,
John

I know this isn't strictly a DVD related issue, but I know there are a lot of people on the forum with DV55s.

Normally I`d be able to help you with this, but Pioneers recalled ALL NSDV77/88 due to a sub fault:( In thery they should work, I don`t believe theres any actual proprietary connectors on the NSDV77 other then the sub/head units.

When we get them back in stock I`ll be able to let you know:)

Cheers Justin. I had a mooch around on the net again and found a diagram of the back panel of the NSDV77 head unit last night on www.avland.co.uk and there don't seem to be any unusual connectors there. In fact, the whole thing looks a bit devoid of connectivity at all. No Video-Ins at all (S-video or composite), just three Audio-ins. Guess you can't use the DV77 as a video switcher at all.

If you do get any news, I'd really appreciate the info regarding the tape deck though.

Cheers!
John
