?
which model of proline do you have.
the Proline 2000 can't, although it should be able to play some CD-RWs
Just copying an mpg file to cd-r won't work, you will need VCD authoring software.

Its the 1000.
Where would I find the software ?.
Just done a bit of snooping around & found that it does play cdr's, but only silver cdr's.
Can anyone explain what silver CDr's are please ?.
Silver CDRs are labelled as Silver on the box. To be honest, I think you'll get a more reliable result with CD-RWs.
To make a video CD you need:
1) something to create a VCD-compatible MPEG file. TMPGenc is free and does a good job. There is a link to the TMPGenc site from www.vcdhelp.com That site will tell you everything you need to know about VCDs.
2) something to master a VCD. Roxio Easy CD Deluxe does this - see www.roxio.com You can buy v5 in the shops for about £50. So does Nero - see www.ahead.de also about £50. It may be that the software that came with your CD writer already has a VCD option. If not, get one or other of the above.
Do visit vcdhelp. It will tell you all about other CD formats that can give better resolution than standard VCDs - depending on your player and other factors. If you do decide to go down the non standard (XVCD) route - you'll need Nero, not Roxio.
