Surely this can't be right. 9" screen with a resolution of only 432x234?

I would've thought that the resolution would've been higher than this.

Here's one link. I've seen this resolution quoted on others too.

Saw this in the flesh today in my local Dixons. Man does it look sweet! They had it set up alongside the LV60 i think (which has a 5.8" screen) and it paled in comparison to this monster. The 3 inches made a huge difference....as in most cases. :D

The LA95 was going for £1000 and the LV60 beside it was £850.

Yummmmm....

You can get it from here (http://homepages.force9.net/grahamash/magic/player.html) for £879 delivered and region free.

or check out a video review for it here. (http://www.techtv.com/products/consumerelectronics/story/0,23008,3351482,00.html) Not full of facts, he just messes around with it for a couple of mins.

Thats nbot what I remember seing, but lets put it this way, it blows away the Pioneer and Sony 7" models:) For £900 its a steal! Don`t rule out the cheaper LV60 though, for £650ish:)

The resolution info on that yahoo store site is completely and utterly wrong.

I asked panasonic UK for a spec on the screen on this machine a while back and they quoted a number of pixels well in excess of the physical resolution of DVD. i.e. you see everything that's there.

I will have one soon if Capital One say yes! :D (Hi Justin :) )

You won't be sorry ron, sound is best listened to through speakers or headphones picture is very good but I would advise getting the additional battery. Hopefully there will be some sort of case for it available at some time in the future.

RichKev: Yeah, 2.5 hours on a full charge is a bit stingy. I was
looking for the additional battery online but couldn't find it. Do you
have a link?

there is no additional battery currently, as the design of the machine means the battery is part of the case, aka sony vivo slimline notebooks (its built into the spine / hinge below the screen).

In the specs it states that an additional battery can be fixed underneath the unit which will extend playing time to 6hrs, however not had time to look for one as yet, justin might know when it is coming out, I've tried panasonics website and nothing is listed as yet but I will definately buy one asap and will let you know here if I find one.

Surely the part number for the optional battery is in the manual for
the player? On the underside of the player you can clearly see the
connection for it. This must surely be mentioned.

OTOH maybe the battery is still in development. If the manual mentions
what the port is for but doesn't mention the battery part number then
that would let you know what the status of the battery is.

the part number is CGP-H501, as said I am trying to find someone who sells it.

Hi

The part number CGP-H501 avalible from the panasonic web site, It's the same battery as used on the LV75 and priced at £90 http://www.panasonic.co.uk/nw/products/product.asp?c=CGPH501E1B

Hmmm, if the LA95 uses the same battery as the smaller 7"
screen panasonic players then surely it would be a very strangely
shaped beast when both are plugged together. This doesn't feel right.

Justin, if you're reading can you see if one of the LV75 batteries
does indeed work with the LA95.

Our Panna rep was instore yesterday and stated there was a new battery comming out, as I have to agree with you Ron, I cnnot see how the much smaller LV70 battery would fit the 95, as each model has a different battery (i.e PV40 & LV60 have one, LV70/75 have one and so on).

I`ll confirm this with pana tech on monday though to make sure they have not got it wrong:)

I'm possibly very keen to buy one of these ASAP as I fly out to Singapore and Korea on Friday evening. It would help me in my decision if someone could answer some of the following questions:

-How does overall audio and visual output (when hooked up to amp and tv) compare to a standalone DVD player?

-Does it do a good job on DVD audio? Would it standup to being used as a standalone CD/DVD audio player?

-Is it multiregion out of the box?

-How has this player generally been recieved by the press? I haven't had a chance to look - and I guess i'm a bit lazy by asking this question!

and I haev a question for Justin:
- if i was to buy this from you (i see you have a special on it for DVD forum members) do you have it in stock, and do you ship it next day delivery?

MorganW

Jeez - talk about us Brits getting a raw deal:

http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?masterid=513443&ut=c35c434a274e59cb

There are sites offering this DVD player for $720, or in the region of £500!!!

Anyone know if this player can be bought for this price in Singapore?

Ron Hill

Aye, seems like a good price til you remember that US or Far East
models are NTSC only. No pal circuitry so not much point in
deregioning.

MorganW

That's a good point... but it does seems like quite a high premium to pay to yield the benefits of PAL! :)

BTW - if anyone could answer the above questions for me, I'd be extremely grateful! I bought HCC this month, but it seems that the review on the player is rather short and not particularly comprehensive!
