View Full Version : Wharfedale 750s problems.
Just recently my trusted Wharfie has taken it upon itself to start going a bit odd - it's like it's jumping frames and is a real bugger on loud crescendo's of sound.
The even odder thing is, is that it only seems to occur on my R1 discs, which must bloody well comprise over 75% of my collection.
Now all's not too bad, in that I have my reciept to the store that I purchased it from (of which I'm a manager anyway!) and so I can get my full refund of £179.99 and then buy the Wharfie M5 for £149.99. So I'll save £30 but just have to put up with it in silver !
Anyhoo.... has anyone else had this problem, or have any reasoing to it?

Well, my Wharfie 750s was giving me problems a few months ago (pixelation, menu problems etc) so I sent it back to Tesco's.
Try cleaning the lens (any old CD player lens cleaner will do), otherwise take it back.

You guys are getting me worried about my 750S now. I'll be watching for any signs of problems.
Cheers

Don't worry about it! I think, in hindsight, all I needed to do was clean the lens (using one of them CD Lens Cleaner thingy's).
Ah well...

Sounds like you've got the TV type set incorrectly, I had a similar problem but with PAL discs and it turned out that the TV setup was set to NTSC. I run mine at PAL60 and have no problems with either PAL or NTSC discs.

As Analog Kid says sounds like you've got the TV system set wrong. I had that the first time I played a R1 disc (X Men) in my Wharfedale, and just setting it to NTSC fixed it a treat.

Hmmn..... I don't think so as I've had the player for 10 months and I've never altered the TV system set - but I'll check it out anyway. It probably just needs the len's cleaning.

I hadn't altered the setting either as far as I was concerned but there is a button on the remote which cycles the various modes and is easily pressed when you're playing "Hunt the subtitle/angle/audio button" in the dark! ;) so take a look. I had the reverse of your problem, R1 NTSC played fine but R2 PAL suffered from Jerky Sound and Picture, it had me foxed for a few minutes until I checked the player's setup menu and discovered that it was in NTSC. The offending button is on the top row of the remote next to either the eject or standby buttons IIRC.
