NTSC playback on 8mm Camcorders? And General tape format questions....

I have some 10 year old analogue(?) 8mm camcorder tapes that I've been told were recorded in a camera bought in Canada. Will they play back in a UK camcorder, does it have to be a non-digital one? I'm assuming their recorded in NTSC.

Does Video8 = 8mm?

Video 8 does = 8mm, which is(was) an analog format.

There is no material difference in the actual tapes themselves between UK and Canada, but it is highly unlikely that a tape recorded with an NTSC signal will replay at all in a PAL machine.

There is no real alternative than trying to obtain an NTSC Video8 machine.
