I bought this chair a while ago, and it is very good for a budget chair. While I am not the largest of people ( 6ft and 14.5 stone) the chair does seem a bit snug, and a bit more seat padding would have been nice. Thats for the chair seat btw!

Cheers hoogie! My Ikea chair has seen better days (like before it needed welding back together again!) and as it wasn't designed for desk use I'll probably do my posture the world of good have a proper chair (just trying to validate to myself the reason fo spending yet money because of hese forums!). What to do with a portable B&W TV I don't know, but I'll figure out a use!

I'm not sure what I think of the chair (haven't made my mind up yet) but thanks to the B&W TV and a spare videosender I can now continue to watch satellite, DVD or videos when in the kitchen whilst cooking! ;)

TV is crap if you use the built-in tuner as is the AM/FM radio. The tuning dial seems to have no correlation with the numbers or actual frequencies of TV and radio stations. Some stations have an 'echo' where they appear two or three times where on any other radio or TV they'll just appear once where they're meant to be.

Despite that, it's great if you're feeding it via the AV inputs and it and the leather chair (and a magazine rack) cost £35 delivered so can't complain!

Now all I need is TV in the bathroom.

Total cost (inc VAT) £36.75

When I check my order history though the TV description is replaced with the following:

I don't care if I get the TV anyway but its worth pointing out nonetheless.

Got mine today. Built it this evening. Sitting on it now.

magicrat: courier was omega (I think).

Tv is pile of poo using built in ariel, not tried it any other way yet.

Chair is ok, comfortable enough for me though maybe lacking a little padding for some.
Adjustable vertically and can lock the chair upright or allow tilt. Tilt resistance can be adjusted but not possible to lock position of the tilt.
Pretty straightforward to put it together.
For 30 odd quid (and VAT) no complaints really. I don't know anything about the price of chairs but the it seems reasonable value for money. Probably worth getting if you are looking for a chair but maybe not if you've already got a fully functioning one.

Once again thanks to OP.

that Viking Direct have different depot's around the country and whether you get the tv or not depends on whether your depot has any left?

Just a thought as I ordered one Mon night and the tv shows up fine on the order - doesnt say discontinued or anything.

And i know that there is a Viking Direct depot in Chadderton, about 15 mins away from me in Oldham.

Can't believe what I've just seen as I return home from work. Ok, the parcels have turned up today, which is good, but they must have been sitting outside our front door since delivery, which might have been about 11 o'clock this morning for all I know.

The boxes are hardly small and inconspicuous and I've got in from work at 5.30ish to an unoccupied home with three big parcels sitting for all to see! I'm surprised they're still there tbh.

Unbelieveable.

GUtted. I ordered mine on Sunday and they tried to deliver it today, when I was at work. :(

Gonna have to call them and arrange for it to be delivered on Thursday.
My old chair is well knackered, I'm having to balance very carefully on it, otherwise I'll end up in heap on the floor. :|

It is one of those rare threads.

It's a bit like the Godfather trilogy...some people say the first was the best, some say the second and others, well they live someplace padded.

Even the sequels of this thread work. It isn't a teeny one where a few come back it's a hit time and time again. The number of views, the punters it pulls in.

Perhaps viking should sponsor the forums :)

Just got around to ordering the chair but after confirming the order it's coming up as "SORRY, This product has now been discontinued". Same for the TV/Radio. The chair is still available for £34.99+VAT with the stock #Q71-MATRIX so will see what arrives I guess.

For what it's worth you can get free chocolate fudge with any order with the stock # QEN-PRBCHRN.

The screw only adjusts the firmness of the tilt, you make it tlit pulling the height adjust bar out slightly.

as far as i can tell i can use a number of vouchers, one to get the free mini-tv for an order over £30 and others to get some free bulbs (plants) and a document bag both regardless of the order cost. can i actually use all these codes together in one order to get 3 freebies or would i be taking advantage of their generosity?

i already have a reasonable chair (although it doesn't have arm rests so i am kind of tempted!) but i am eyeing up an Allsop metal art monitor stand and some other useful bits and pieces

I tried getting lots of the free stuff too, but you are only allowed two per order. If you try the TV and the document bag it will say you need to buy more stuff to get the document bag. I think order needs to be 90 quid or over

The helicoptor can be found in November's special offers section.

The towels come to £25.80 + VAT. For an £85 Remote Control Helicoptor this can't be bad. Would like to see some detail on the helicoptor though - has anyone got one? or seen a review of one?

I think it is this one: At Argos (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=1001&productId=52958)

Seems to have a similar looking base and controller.

Yeah the instructions aren't the best! I also had problems with the wheels but basically the secret is push them in as hard as possible, they do actually go in but need a bit of effort - You could ask a nice strong man to do it for you (sorry I'm busy at the moment! ;) )

Ultraviolet
15-11-2003, 16:21

same problem here, but ive built 4 now and have that sussed...

lay the back flush with the floor with the bolts into the base

then lean on the seat pad, this moves it sufficiently close to the back for the braket to align

once the thread is into the hole its plain sailing :)

yeah the feet just need pushing :)

I'm just surfing with a bad back, saw this and thought what a good idea. Leather - umm. Swivle - ahh. Tilt - ohh! I wonder what freebies I'll get with it - dribble.

You could ask a nice strong man to do it for you (sorry I'm busy at the moment! ;) )

well there was no nice strong man in the viking direct catalogue
:-(

But with a hammer, and a bit of arm power, its now made and i am typing from it. not as comfy as my old chair, needs a cushion i think. But like the tilt feature!!

dont think that swearing is allowed mate.
to make it tilt pull the lever (the one for making it go up and down) out i.e. away from the center of the chair

digglek
19-11-2003, 09:00
No Doesnt do anything, ive pulled it from the centre like you say and nothing happens

The lever should slide out to the right (if you are sitting on it) along a plane parallel (ish) to the floor. It may need rotated slightly so the flat handle bit of the lever is parallel with the floor before commencing sliding. It should move easily i.e. you don't need to apply any force. When the lever is 'slid out' you should be able to lean back in your chair and it tilt. There is a large screw knob underneath the seat at the front which you turn to adjust the firmness of tilt (I can't remember which way does what).

I think there is also a guide in the instructions.

A small mod. If you drill an extra hole where the seat locks you can lock the seat in the tilted position.

well i went for a metal monitor stand (very smart, frees up desk space by letting me slide my keyboard underneath and should also be good for my back!), 50 assorted colour A4 folders (i am sure that they will get used eventually...), an adjustable desk-stand thing for supporting documents (a very cheap plastic effort wich is far to light and the adjustments don't hold very well, it will probably break easily as well so this is a bit dissapointing) and some cleaning wipes (handy for sanitising telephones) to get the order over 30 quid. also got the tube of choccies (no fudge left :( ) and the mini TV

It took me ages, it took hard, gutsy, restraint, but I resisted buying the chair.

I did, however, get a few ink cartridges and some paper, AND

the mini b&w TV AND
the enourmous tube of chocolate things.

Brill and Yum.

I figured, I'd lurked enough in Viking threads for years...

Q.

Thanks you punters..

Just went for this myself. Seeing as it's late in the day i didn't think i'd get the TV (Still don't know for sure) but everything went through OK at the checkout. So for just over £41 after VAT i got a chair, some Chocs, a Re-writable CD and possibly a TV/Radio.

Many thanks.
