Interesting deal - maybe to attract/keep all those customers who signed up for the free 3310 & line-rental on this tariff last year (although that was Carphone Warehouse)

i expetc what they will do is take the free phone that you would normally get for signing up to tmobile in the first place, and sell this free phone at its normal £250+ price, thus take away the line rental that they will refund you and they make a tidy profit on it by selling your free phone to someone else.

Anyone know if you can sign up to this if you are an existing t-mobile customer (who got the cpw deal last year ;) ) & keep your existing number. If so this will be ideal for wifey.

As i understand it you can keep your number if you changet provider by asking for your pac(?) code BUT NOT if you keeping or staying with t-mobile.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

That said my Siemens MT50 Tmob contract was due to expire at the end of this month (jaq comms?) but the good people of T-mob offered me SE t610 to keep me on board for another year:clap:

You can not keep your number if you stay on T-Mobile. You have to port the number out to another network provider (find the cheapest PAYG SIM you can - Virgin maybe) and then after 30 days port it back. It's not ideal but it works...

Oh, this could be good

I had a motorola monte carlo up to Jan with t-mobile, then switched to orange as i got a 3510 for £20 with 12 months line rental deal. This is running out soon and it'll go to a PAYG.

So, would this work with my old t-mobile phone? i ported the old number to a new phone but don;t mind about a new number for this!!

Cheers

I'm surprised people find this a good deal.

ITS ONLY GOOD IF ALMOST ALL YOUR CALLS ARE OFF-PEAK AND TO T-MOBILE OR LANDLINES..
The free calls are only to landlines or T-Mobile and only at off-peak times.

You are paying well over the odds for all the other calls (more expensive than any PAYG tariff).
40p peak rate for landlines !!!!
Its only 15p per min on Virgin (down to 5p after 5 mins per day)

If you phone other networks frequently then you would be better off buying a Tesco-Mobile sim as all calls (including cross networks) are 20p per min. You can choose 3 numbers for half price calls too.

Actually that is what i also just worked out. effective you are getting free texts. Which is good, but only costing me £3 a month as at present on Orange. So think i'll just wait for a PAYG sim card deal, or free texts perhaps.

Might be useful for someone though

I think that most people think that for £10 it's a useful reserve for off peak. I certainly don't use it during the day, I have another T-mobile cash back SIM for that together with a triple SIM back.

i am on this tarriff and it works out very well. I work during the day, off peak starts at 6pm unlike most providers, so during th eday all calls are made at works expense. I get 50 free texts and after 6pm I make all landline calls and most of my calls are to Doolio who is also on the same tarriff. So each month my bills are only about £15.

wozwebs
04-11-2003, 10:56
I'm up for T-Mobile renewal also and have decided to go with a free O2 Sim. I found that out of the 750 free off peak minutes I was only using around 40 of them each month but I was going over the 50 free texts. Lst month I sent 105 so the O2 Sim with 300 free texts for £10 top up each month is a far better deal for me.

You still get to use your £10 for calls obviously and i'm sticking to the O2 classic tarrif where the calls are a set price. The Talk A Lot plan is better for people who'd use it more than me for calling.

You can alter your text package so you get 200 txt and 25 picture messages aswell. I doubt i'd ever go over the £10 in a month so £120 all in for 3600 texts and £120 worth of calls seems like the best deal to me and I've also got to ring on my closure date to obtain my PAC code so I can keep my number.

RonnyJ
04-11-2003, 10:56
It is good if you have more than one person on T-Mobile (or a landline) that you might phone during off-peak times, in which case it's free calls to them.

Yes, you can switch the tarrif you are on as much as you like. The instructions are in the blue book that came with the SIM but I think all you do is type in a certain word and text it to O2 and you will be switched to the Classic tarrif, which in my opinion is loads better as weekend calls are very cheap.

The 750 is not too bad for me to contact my kids, as i can do all my other calls during the day.

From the website

Claims Procedure

For reduced line rental the mobilemadness.com promotion is available to customers that subscribe to a brand new 12 month service agreement with a Nokia 3510i handset.

Your reduced line rental is refunded to you in by redemption in full at month 6 by mobilemadness.com

All you need to do is send us a copy of your 6th full monthly bill within 30 days of receiving them.

Subject to you having remained on the original price plan chosen, we will credit the relevant amount of reduced line rental directly to the bank account details supplied with your original order.

For example:- If you are eligible for reduced line rental at £3.99 on a Freetime 750 tariff which is usually £13.99 we would credit to your bank account £120.00 (£10.00 x 12) based on the criteria above.

Would it not be better to go for the £3.99 a month deal?

Ok you would not get the rebate until month six, but provided you stick within your limits (i.e use the tmobile sim after 6pm and for texts) you could be quids in. Get it unlocked (if it even needs to be) and use a cheapo payg sim in the before 6 if needs be.

May sound complicated but if managed ok you could get the 3510i for around £48 (after the line rental is given back) and then get 750 off peak minutes per month free of charge.;)

I am not sure but for the price of the unlock, u will get the 3510i at around £58 but then as I said b4 if u watch what your doing 750 offtime minutes and 50 free texts per month for a year.

Yeah o.k u are in a contract and the rates before 6pm are extortion, but there must be enough of us on here who went for the cpw deal for the 3310 that wozwebs found last year that are able to make good use of another 12 months worth of calls and get a upgrade for very little again?

Hmm, 12 months rent free but you gotta pay £13.99 rental?? How is that free? Or have I misread something?

fastrunner
05-11-2003, 22:05
shy-

depending on the deal (there are a couple in this thread alone) you get a cheque back after a certain amount of time i.e month 4 of regular paymeants, that covers the whole of the 12 months paymeants of £13.99.

You will still get a monthly bill up until 12 months with either £13.99 or slightly more if u have used other services, but this is 'free' as you would have already cashed the cheque for £168 or whatever it is some months earlier then month 12!

hope i'm being as clear as i can be (mud :))

You should be ringing T-mobile. In theory you should be able to do this by ringing 150 from the handset and following the prompts, but as anyone who has tried this discovers, most of the time there is no option to get through to a real operator! Their freephone number is 0800 956 2120 (but do this from a landline)

To be fair, I emailed them last week and got this reply:

"Firstly may we thank you for you recent order for a Nokia 3510i on the
T-Mobile network

You will be pleased to be informed that T-Mobile have accepted your
application

However, T-Mobile have informed us that they will be unable to supply Nokia
3510i handsets till the end of November, early December.

Our apologies over this but they advised us that they would be able to
provide these handsets

In order to get your order fulfilled we are offering the Nokia 8310 handset
as a replacement

The offer we can provide you with is

Free Nokia 8310 with reduced line rental of £5.99 per month

Our usual price for this offer is £6.99 per month, but we can offer you at
the lower price of £5.99 per month for the inconvenience caused

This offer still represents exceeding good value for money with 750 off peak
minutes + 50 Text for 12 months, working out at an annual cost of £71.88
with a free Nokia 8310

If you could advise us by return of email stating your name if you wish to
proceed with the offer, or await the arrival of the 3510i or cancel your
order (virtually no were has stock of Nokia 3510i that coudl match or come
near to the offer)

Many Thanks

A J Chapman

I've kept with the original order for the 3510i as this is the one I wanted as a replacement for my trust 3310 from last years cpw promotion.

I am confident that they will ship on the 1st and until about the 4th I will give them the benefit of the doubt!

The scancom deal isn't that great, it's costs £49.99 + £159.47 - £135.74 = £73.72, or £6.14 per month.

Not much less than the Mobile Madness £6.99 per month, and slightly more than the £5.99 offered to some people as an alternative to the 3510i.

same here depends on what you wwant, but for me polyphonic tones & a few games. Also combine that with the data cables etc available at places like fleebay and it becomes a nifty piece of kit:clap:

Yeah but IMHO the 3510i is a tacky phone.

It looks nice in the pictures but the one I used in the shop was really nasty, the buttons were really unresponsive.

It's annoying because I am very tempted to take up the £12.99 Mobile Madness deal for 200 Anytime X-Network minutes, except for the fact that I'd have to have this minging phone with it.

Anyone else found any decent offers on anytime X-network minute phones??

I ended up ordering the 3510i on T-Mobile Everyone 300 (X-net minutes anytime) for £12.99 / month.

The phone is nasty but the airtime contract was too good to pass up.

Anyone got any news on the status of their orders? All I have received is a general 'thankyou for your order' email with nothing specifically personal in it.

Yes.

Also, the £12.99 / month is actually by redemption.

You have to pay £29.99 per month for 12 months, but at the end of month 6 you are meant so send them your 6th monthly bill and they will refund the total difference, which in my case would be

(29.99 - 12.99) * 12 = £204 refund

If they are indeed a one man band, with terrible customer service, what are the chances of getting the refund for the discounted line rental after the sixth monthly bill?

And if they fail to refund the redemption after they have sold me a contract where I pay £29.00 a month to T-Mobile, but they called it a £12.00/month deal as they promised a redemption after 6 months of (12 * (29 - 12) = £204, will T-Mobile offer to refund me?

I doubt it. Doesn't inspire confidence, does it.

Gave them a call and they said it won't be posted out until the 19th (even though it says 3 weeks on the forms).

If everything goes as they say it's a little over two months from order to moneyback if you pay upfront.

I ordered the 3510 on the ornage 200 plan for £11.99 a month.
After reading this thread, i understand that i will have to pay the £30 a month and claim it via cashback. It doesent state this when ordering, it just says £11.99 reduced line rental a month.

This, coupled with the fact that my emails go unanswered, and the company has no phone number has led me to email them (thats a laugh) and ask for the order to be cancelled.

I said in my email that if a phone arrived, i would not sign the contract, and that i have not authorised them to debit any monies from my account (the bank details given are for orange only i believe), and that it would be fraudulent to do so.
Am i correct in assuming this.

Im not that bothered as i believe i would be covered by the direct debit gurantee anyway.

Comments appreciated.

Actually, it does mention how the reduced rate line rental works on the page you order from.

At the bottom of the page where you ordered from, it mentions the following:

The reduced line rental is the equivalent after our cashback promotion. Click here for details

If you click on the link it brings up a small window which clearly explains how this works.

Despite this, if you have decided you don't want to go with them I expect you have every legal right here, what with not having physically signed anything, the 14 day mail order cooling off period, and the fact that if you refuse delivery and cancel the direct debit, they are probably going to realise it is more hassle for them to try and take you to court than to just cancel the contract.

I am going to give it a go with Mobile Madness. If it turns out I get shafted, then I'll raise hell with T-Mobile, as they are allowing this company to sell their products and so have some moral liability.

Hi! I also ordered from Mobile Madness. The terms of my cashback offer were that I had to send them my sixth monthly bill, and they would refund the difference between what I had to pay over the year and the 'discounted rate per month' they quoted.

Can I ask, is this the same deal as you got - I am wondering whether I can somehow pay upfront for the year and get the cashback now, rather than have to wait and remember about it in 6 months time...

cheers!

Okay, so the phone I ordered on 30th November turned up today from Mobile Madness. I ordered the following:

Nokia 3510i on T-Mobile
Everyone 200 Plan - including 50% extra minutes - so 300 X-Net Minutes Anytime each month, for discounted line rental (after rebate) of £12.99 / month.

First problem
----------------
I ordered this on 30th November. At that time, and indeed still now, the Mobile Madness website talks about the 50% extra free minutes deal, and when you click on the Everyone 200 Plan it takes you through to the order page where the priceplan shows up as Everyone 300.

However, when I phoned T-Mobile, they said that my contract only gives me 200 minutes per month, and that the 50% extra minutes offer is now only available through their website, and that the offer to get 50% extra minutes through other dealers ended at the end of November. When I told them I had ordered on 30th November, they said that I was ineligible for a contract until the credit check was performed, and by the time that was done it was December, so I could not avail of the offer.

When I explained that the offer was still being shown on Mobile Madness's website, they said that I would have to speak to Mobile Madness directly, due to false advertising.

This is not a good start. I may try my case again with T-Mobile as Mobile Madness are not answering the phone.

All over the place.

www.mobilemadness.com

On the left hand side, under where it says 'Mobile Phone Tariffs', click on T-Mobile. This takes you to a new page where it says:

Cuurently T-Mobile are offering 50% extra free miuntes on The Everyone 150 and Everyone 300 tariffs. This is reflected in the names of these tariffs which were previously Everyone 100 and Everyone 200 respectively.

Also, on the left hand side under where it says 'Mobile Phone Networks', if you click on T-Mobile, and then on the next page on the Nokia 3510i, and click on the 'Order Now' button for Everyone 200 it takes you through to the order page where it shows the name of the contract to be 'Everyone 300', which refers to the 50% extra on the Everyone 200 offer.

It seems that the site has been updated and the 3510i (http://www.mobilemadness.com/tmobile/nokia_3510i.html) is shown as BACK IN STOCK !! instead of the previous orders will be shipped 1/12 etc. Still £12.99 on Everyone 200 with the cheapest being £3.99 on FT 750.

But off course its not as good know as you dont get the 50 % free time. Shame T-Mobile seemed to have ended it suddenly at the end of November as I was going to get a SIM only from a local shop. :(

I was tempted with this deal but I'll leave it. I don't think the company is intentionally trying to scam people, its probably 1 man operation that couldnt cope with the demand. This doesnt bode well for getting a refund in 6 months. The fact they dont have a published telephone number is not encouraging either.

What I would suggest to those that have gone for the deal and got the phones is that you up both Mobile Madness (guess there should be a number in the invoice) and T-Mobile. Tell them you would like to pay the whole years rental upfront (assuming you have the cash ;) ) with 5% discount on the first bill. Arrange with Mobile Madness to give you a refund straight afterwards (maybe with month 2 bill showing yuo have paid T-Mobile). You will probably have to assure Mobile Madness that you will not change tariffs within the 6 months, possibly putting in writing to encourage them to give you a faster refund.

Anyway all the best, hope it all works out, its a good deal if it does :)
