I've had a succession of Panasonics in my home, all with major problems, all well documented and with no apparent fix (eg scrolling bands on RGB, dark corners).

I've now had a Sony KV32LS35 for a few weeks and I really can't find any single fault. And it's 50 Hz - I wouldn't touch a 100Hz TV with a barge pole - but that's another tired old argument!

Can recommend Sony KV32FQ75.

Very nice 100hz set with lots of gizmos and looks damn fine.
Also has the function to switch to 50hz refresh if you fancy it for some viewing. (notice a difference with some fast moving pictures - mainly scrolling text - gives less blur at 50).

But a bit heavy (77kg in box) and watch out for the casing, the Wega sets can have issues with the case not sitting flush to the flat screen. Apparently on the manufacture if the mould is out by 1-2mm then when snapped on the case will bow, this can happen almost 50/50 so can be common.
I noticed it on about 4/10 sets I looked at in shops after I saw the fault on my own set, so I asked for a replacement. Luckily the replaced set was a perfect fit frame. A lot of people wouldn't notice such a minor cosmetic fault but if your paying good money why out up with any defects eh.

Can recommend Allders department store who price matched unbeatable and had no problem with replacing the set. I even got them to deliver the replacement on a Saturday by private courier (which the shop salesman said cost £140!).
HTH.

i have the panasonic 32pk25 and i can honestly say that i won't have it for much longer. i originally bought the set at the beggining of september but it had darker areas running down each side of the screen. Engineers called out and replacement was sent out. Low and behold - the same problem with the replacement. Engineers were again at my house today and i'm not going to accept a replacement or a repair. It's time for a different tele. It's a shame really, because apart from that really annoying fault, the picture was really pretty good.

I've had problems with horizontal banding on NTSC playback from my Wharfedale 750(r3) to my Panasonic 4:3 tv (TX25-MD1 5 years old) which id but down in my ignorance to dodgy NTSc output from the DVD player.

Seeing mention of something similar in this thread, is it more likely to be RGB problems with the TV ?

Playing NTSC VHS through the TV (ie non RGB) doesn't seem to cause the same problems.

Thanks

Matt
