Im thinking about purchasing the TAG processor but cant afford the matching power amp, so Im looking for alternatives.
My priority is music then films, kinda 60/40 split.
I have a budget of about £1500. What do you suggest?
Im also in the market for a TV. I like RPTVs but cant accommodate one in my room, as any new set has to go on top of my AV unit.
Plasma would be great but I cant afford 3.5k so its CRT.
I like the look of the Philips 36" set (cant remember the ref) any other worthwhile suggestions would be appreciated. Budget is around £1600.
Thanks ;)
Can't help much, but I think the TAG AV32R processor is designed to be used with one of their amps, like the 100x5R monobloc. I'm not sure what else would compliment it, but I would suggest posting on the TAG website URL=http://www.TagMclarenAudio.com]www.TagMclarenAudio.com[/URL]. Someone on there will probably be able to suggest a good setup using alternative amps. The processor is probably one of the best available and is software upgradeable so fairly future proof. I have heard a 6.1 set up which was stunning, and I believe they also have a THX 7.1 setup, but you would need a THX dvd player like their DVD32R.

Try a Rotel RMB 1075 (£800) or RMB 1095 (£1750), both of which are 5-channel power amps. More info at www.rotel.com
I have a 1095 which is simply stunning.
I currently use some old Audiolab 8000P amplifiers with my AV32R and have no complaints. I would suggest that any 'quality' amplifier will probably be ok as Tag equipment is very neutral sounding thus easily matched.

Thanks guys, the Rotels are definately on my list.
Neil S, what speakers are you using in your set up?
DVD Geeza, I have Missions all round :
753 front
75C centre
751 Rear
No sub at present as my neighbours may have something to say about that...
I like the 'fast' sound of this setup, I think it's really suitable to home cinema. A possible future upgrade may be to Kef reference series but I need more room first.

Just for DVD Geeza's info - Audiolab was bought by Tag so is in effect the same company - there should be plenty of 8000p's around 2nd hand at decent prices.
