Amp & Subwoofer

I'm thinking of getting the Yamaha RX-V620RDS receiver and YST-SW105 subwoofer.

If anyone has either of these could they post their thoughts on performance etc. and if anyone knows of any alternatives that I should also check out then I would be interestd to hear about them.

Personally I'd be looking at a Marantz SR5200 or Onkyo TXDS595 receiver, and a Paradigm PDR10 subwoofer!

The RXV620 lacks both DPL2 and any form of 6.1 support. The marantz has both, while the Onkyo has DPL2. In sound quality terms, personally I doubt there's much in it overall between any of them, but the Marantz is reputedly the best at the price at the moment!

I've looked at both the Marantz and the Onkyo, but neither have a phono input and I still listen to a lot of music on vinyl also I don't really want to have to get an external phono stage (space and money both a bit limited). Although the 6.1 capabilites are tempting. :cool:

i have the yam sub. being my first home sub it sounds good to me :)

not sure if this is a 'standard' feature of home subs but this one has auto on/off depending on whether there is a signal from amp
