Also, keep an eye on the Korean film thread for feedback:

I think a few people (who post regularly on that thread) have ordered the Korean R3 dvd.

Check out the reviews on IMDB. Sounds a bit rubbish to me although it has to be better than Yesterday. :gag:

I got the DVD yesterday.

Nice metal slipcase. Film does sound interesting in a Blade Runner way. Will try to watch it this week and post a review in the Korean Movie thread. :)

I'll keep an eye out for your review Ono. I've read mixed reviews of the film but it sounds like my cup of tea :)

As ian said, a very disappointing movie which has far too much in common with Blade Runner.

Saw this on the big screen last summer. Its ambitious in its attempt to merge a romance (of the kind that has strong appeal with teenage girls in S. Korea) with a Blade Runner style action film, but like Yesterday it fails on so many levels that I won't attempt to list them.

Best avoided in my opinion.

It's interesting for the first 20-30 mins, despite being an obvious BR/Matrix rip (but no-one ever said our Eastern cousins were afraid of being plagiaristic) but then it descends into utterly improbable, histrionic fappery. Disappointing, as the first action setpiece is actually quite good. Shame it doesn't give us any other decent ones...

I thought it was a decent flick. Nothing spectacular.. but worth a watch.

Bit rubbish if you ask me (which nobody did), check out 'resurrection of the little match girl' another Korean sci fi film thats a bit wierd if you liked it.

I really enjoyed this, it's a bit of a failure in some respects but I love seeing the korean filmmakers have a go at sci fi instead of over melodramatic tosh like WindStruck :gag:

Resurrection Of The Little Match girl is a particular favourite of mine, hated by almost everyone and had a big affect on the korean industry due to its budget size and the fact it just totally failed at the box office. It's available in an english subbed dvd on scandinavian dvd, part of the Asian Vision label. I haven't actually got it yet so I have no idea how good the dvd is, I have a fansubbed version but keep meaning to get the proper retail.

The only korean sci fi film I havent really enjoyed much was Yesterday, which had a really dodgy storyline and some very dull action scenes.

I thought it was better than Blade Runner, personally.

Yeah mines an old fan sub too, I think I'll give it another go, as I recall it's totaly mentalist which may have put off mainstream audiences but I love all that wierd stuff.
Much better than a 9 hour romantic epic like my sassy girl (when will it end?)

I found Natural City very poor indeed; stilted characterisation, no involving plot (ripped off from Blade Runner), very awkward action set-pieces and an overall sense of "why should I care?" I even rate Yesterday above this! :help:

Still meaning to check out Resurrection Of The Little Match Girl tho'...
