I have the Wharfedale CTV-850 and a DVD750s

With the DVD player set to output RGB the TV won't display anything else while the DVD player is powered on.
Both AV channels just show the DVD logo screen and the tuner shows a distorted version of the logo screen.

Is this a feature or do I have a bad set ?

thanks
Martin

Hi,

Since the same thing happens with my Goodmans 321NS TV and my Wharfedale 750S player, it looks like a feature of some "cost effective" TVs.

I don't know if it's something to do with the 750S RGB o/p but common sense tells me it is the TV which is causing the problem. I can live with switching off the 750S as the TV picture (which is what counts at the end of the day) is not bad for £479 over 16 months ago.

Best wishes

Thanks paul,

I can live with it, and I only paid £280 for the telly and £99 for the dvd at tesco so I'm more than happy.

I have a similiar problem with my Toshiba 28" set and my sky digital box/ wharfedale 750s. It appears to be when the scart control signal is activated the set changes to display RGB, however the set is too stupid to realise that if you select a different input that it should ignore the scart control signal.

With the wharfdale I just keep the thing in standby when i'm not using it and if I have it on then i'm not too fussed.

I can't remember off the top of my head which pin you'd need to disconnect on your scart lead if you wanted it to stop this behaviour, but then you'd need to select RGB mode on your TV manually.
