Having had my system for nearly a year, at the weekend I thought it was time to clean behind the telly and remove the carpet dust and old cats toys. It brought home to me again how many cables there are connecting all this AV equipment - a real spagettie junction, God save us from scart cables, not to mention the cost.
:(
But it also brings back the satisfaction of getting all the right connections together and seeing/hearing the suberb end result. Thanks to this forum for good advice on kit and connections.
:)
Anyway, what's my point ?
I'm just wondering why we need all these cables these days. Its just digital data isn't it? Why can't it flow between the boxes on a single gigabit ethernet cable like a computer network. Maybe each unit will just have an input socket and an output socket. I guess it probably could do... but maybe it would lose some of the magic without all the fun of sorting out those cables.
:D
Will we see future AV units linked on a single cable ?
:(
