IIRC my brightness control is set just above the default (53) and the contrast is set fairly low (~35). The only major change was to set the sharpness control to minimum (-50). The brightness setting is greatly affected by ambient light, of course; my set is configured for low(ish) ambient light.

It's well worth getting hold of a copy of Video Essentials to get the setup spot on. Failing that, watch a program with plenty of shadow detail and set the brightness to the point where you can just make out the detail in the shadows (Star Trek Voyager worked for me :) ).

BTW Big isn't it! :D Frighteningly, in comparison to the surrounding RPTVs in my local Currys, it actually looks rather small!

Just some advice for you RPTV owners Beware!

Do not watch too much digital tv like sky news etc as you will suffer Screen Burn! I.E. dont have the brightness too high and leave on a channel for a long time as the phoser burns in the screen logos and you will see those even when watching another channel!

The biggest problem is that RPTV are different than normal tvs and do not like to be run to hard on the Brighness, contrast et al.

As the advice stated use Video Essentials to set it up correctly and learn to use the convergance controls. They need to be reconverged about once a fortnight, but give the set 30mins to warm up.
