I have seen this on QED for £59.31 and wondered if it is any good?
Also how would it intergrate with my present system of Pioneer 709 Amp, Mission 701 Fronts, 70C1 Centre and Ariston Rears.
Can't seem to find any reviews anywhere but I am on the look out for a cheapish sub just to give those lower freqs a push (and to annoy the neighbours a bit).
Any comments would be appreciated.
They also have the A8 at £72.89.

This may be of interest to you. You can buy the Stagate x1 5.1 system at QED for £109.30. If you research this system at www.eltax.dk you should discover that it actually includes the A8 sub. Which means that, effectively, you are paying £36 for the other 5 speakers. Bargain? I think so....

Good point but the A8 is a little expensive for me. The A6 is more in my current price range. So unless I can sell the sats of the stargate for £50 it is not worth it for me. But I will say again for anyone out there the Stargates from QED are an amazing deal.

I got the A6 from QED just last week, to integrate with my existing Eltax Symphony 6.2 fronts and Silverstone centre and rears.
Having never owned a sub, its impossible for me to say whether its a good sub, but it certainly adds a subtle level of bass rather than rocking the foundations of the house. To be honest, I didn't really want that sort of effect anyway, so I'm pleased with it - especially for £60, delivered next day.
Tested it out with Final Fantasy yesterday and there were some pleasantly satisfying rumbles from the floor during the opening sequence which aren't there when its turned off, so its certainly doing its job - despite the Symphony fronts already handling bass exceedingly well IMO.
Another plus point (especially for my wife) is that its the nicest looking sub I could find for that sort of money, with bevelled edges and and beech effect finish.
One other thing - it comes with a 2-pin power lead from QED, so you'll need a plug or another kettle lead to get it set up.

How much bass does this sub really handle ? The Eltax website claims it will only go down to 45Hz, which is actually higher than both the Symphony 6.2 (35Hz) and the Symphony 8.2, which I use as my main speakers (28Hz).
I would be interested in a sub but don't want to spend money on something that isn't going to make much difference.

I suppose you're right - the bass response is no different to the fronts - but the difference is the sub produces bass you can feel, even at fairly low volumes.
As I said before, it's a subtle difference - and you might think £60 is too much to pay for so little return. But in my case, that subtle difference is exactly what I was looking for.
I have never heard a setup that does not benefit from a subwoofer - it just lacks the cutting bass that is prevalent in a proper 5.1 system.

a system definatly benifits from a sub woofer as you wont be getting the full 5.1 (the .1 being the sub) effect.....eg the low rumbles that really add to the atmosphere of a film may get mixed in with the other speakers....
Ive got the A8 btw....and it doesnt exactly pin me against the wall but adds another dimension to the sound...would like something a bit bigger....it all comes down to the size of your room in the end....mines not massive but the a8 is probably about right for it. :)

Uni Halls = Very small room. I think the A6 should suit me fine. The Mission 701s have great bass for the size but just want to get those low low down sounds a little louder.
Thanks to everyone for the help
Paul :)
Time to annoy the neighbours hahahahahah
hmm - I had the Eltax MovieMaxx speaker package as a good start in Home Cinema (that's fronts, centre and rears - no sub). When I bought my Tosh RPTV, it came with a free A8 Sub (woo hoo! Free!). I must admit, there was not so much of a difference as I was expecting, but I've heard that the MovieMaxx fronts are actually not bad for LFE and so the sub only goes just a wee bit further.....it is noticeable, just not as much I was expecting.
Before I got my A8, I was looking at the A10 tbh, so maybe I can still think about an extra purchase and get something towards it on the sale of the A8!
