E2Save appear to be doing a good deal on the Motorola V3 on Orange. Offer on home page.
£1.99 for 10 months, on 12 month contract - works out at £6.66 per month cash back at months 1, 6, 8 and 12.

Sounds like a stonking deal. Only £80 for a year if you stick within allowance.
But just ordered a simple V220 from mobileshop - phone no good, but 100+100 tariff.

Sory - but can someone explain what this mean -
" A credit of £110.00 will be raised** after 1 month if you do not cancel your contract. This may take up to 45 days to clear, you will receive a text message and/or e-mail when this credit has been successfully raised"
Are they saying that they will give me £110.00 after the first month?
And is this deal open to existing customers?

I'm not sure about this as I've never seen something like this with E2save. I'll ring them to ask about this tomorrow. I think the deal is open for everyone.
Anyone knows if the phone is locked to Orange if you get it from E2save? Thanks

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING HERE IS; WE WILL GIVE YOU THAT CASHBACK AUTOMATICALLY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT IF YOU DO NOT CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT IN THAT TIME PERIOD.
FOLKS THINGS TO REMEMBER BEFORE YOU GET THIS CONTRACT IS THAT, I BOUGHT A D500 ON ORANGE FROM E2SAVE ONLINE A WHILE AGO, THEY SAID TO ME IT WILL BE DONE AUTOMATICALLY FIRST CASHBACK, BUT IT DID NOT HAPPEN SO I RANG THEM UP AND THEY SAID WE ARE GETING THE SYSTEM IN TO DO THIS BUT I WILL SEND YOU A CHEQUE THROUGH THE POST ANYWAY, ITS BEEN 7 DAYS SINCE I RANG THEM AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY FIRST CASHBACK CHEQUE.
ALSO REMEMBER WHEN YOU GET THE CONTRACT ASK THEM NOT PUT YOU ON ANY WAP TRIAL BUNDLE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, ITS £3 OR SUMMA ON TOP OF YOUR LINE RENTAL.
SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD DEAL, BUT HAVING 2 CONTRACTS. IM HOLDING BACK.

Just ordered the SE k750i at half price for 12 months on the same plan again from e2save but may cancel it and get this as it'd be a lot cheaper (although the 750i does look an excellent phone...).
Onestopphoneshop (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://www.dgm2.com/m/onestopphone/t.asp^QS^A=33130^QA^I=6426) are doing the same deal but the picture implies the black limited edition V3.

So am I right in thinking that I keep paying the "monthly charge" of £30 per month? So what is this 10 months at £1.99 per month line rental as a "free gift" ?
Does it mean its going to be £30 + £1.99 per month?
Smallchief - thanks for that warning note - I find the Samsung D500 quite attractive at this rate.

I DONT KNOW WHAT THE LINE RENTAL IS ON THE V3 PHONE BUT I ASSUME ITS £30 A MONTH, YOU PAY THAT EACH MONTH FOIR 10 MONTHS, I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPEN AFTER 10 MONTHS DONT QUOTE ME ON THAT, AFTER YOU GET ALL THE CASHBACK IT WORKS OUT TO BE £1.99 FOR 10 MONTHS, JUST RING THEM UP AND GET ALL THE DETAILS. OR IT MUST BE ON THE WEBSITE.
IVE STILL GOT MY D500 WHAT A BEAUTY IT IS, GOT A BARGAIN.
Just spoke to Onestopphoneshop (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://www.dgm2.com/m/onestopphone/t.asp^QS^A=33130^QA^I=6426) and they don't guarentee the colour and don't have stock anyway.
Juat a quick question on the deals with E2Save; can you transfer an existing mobile number to them?
Edit: Looks like you can according to their FAQ.
Sounds like a cracking deal. How woudl this owrk if you are currently an Orange customer. I dont want to upgrade as the deals are rubbish, but could i get my PAC for my current contract and then provide this for a number port when i get this new phone, so basically i take my number from orange and then port it to another ornage contract. Hope that makes sense.

I've just had a look at their FAQ (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click^QS^p=14992^QA^a=60823^QA^g=99367^QA^url=http%3A//www.e2save.com/faq.php) and it explains what can happen regarding porting numbers but looks like you'll not be able to.
You can transfer your existing number as long as you are changing to a different network.
Cheers MikeC, thought it would be a no go. Still amazes me how much money they waste in losing customers every 12 months, simply because they dont bother giving a good upgrade deal. Looks like I'll move to o2 or 3 and then back to orange in 12 months.

E2Save are part of Carphone Warehouse so dealing with a 'big' company.
On previous deals I've had, you pay the going monthly rate, in this case, your plan 200 is £30 per month. This will be taken from your bank each month so over the year you have to pay out £360.00 total cost
However, in month one E2save give you £110 if you are still on the contract after the first month (so £360.00 per annum less £100 = £250 total cost).
Then, in month 4, 8 and 12 they give you a further cashback of £56.70 each time (so £56.70 * 3 = £170.00 take away from £250 total cost = £80 total cost). So in effect over the year the whole deal costs £80 or £1.99 for 10 months and 2 and £30 or in simple maths £6.66 per month over the year - provided you get those cashback requests in.
The cahback is refunded to your credit/bank depending upon how you pay for monthly rental. These schemes are a pain to administrate and you have to remember to get your bills to e2save at the right time, but I have had three phones over the last three years on similar schemes (with e2save/carphonewarehouse and onstopphoneshop) and all three have never let me down in refunding the cash.
A PAYG phone from the shops costs from £30 upto £80 and then you have to buy some credits, so for a bit more effort, you can have contract phone for same price as PAYG, inclusive calls and then cancel at month 12, keep the phone and start again.

Ranieri,
Seems to be a bargain forum pattern here. You have the DVD folk who move from one 'free dvd rentals for 2 months offer' to another, switching between Lovefilm, Screenselect, etc.
Then there are the credit card junkies who hop about looking for interest free credit for 9 months, use it up then move on elsewhere. So I guess its happening on mobiles as well. As I said in my earlier post, last three years I've had three phones, all with low total costs of £40-60 each year, get to keep the phone and sell on ebay, move onto another network, port the number and then do the same.
I'm not complaining!. Currently on 3 (500mins + 500 txts) for total cost of £30 in the year. I've got six months left on this otherwise I'd have had the V3 myself, but am getting for the wife instead so I can bask in her trendiness.
Just ordered the SE k750i at half price for 12 months on the same plan again from e2save but may cancel it and get this as it'd be a lot cheaper (although the 750i does look an excellent phone...).
I'm on exactly the same deal through e2save. only a few weeks into my contract though but they have been excellent to deal with so far.

YOu can port number to Virgin PAYG, stay with them for 30 days (i think) then request pac code and join any network you want. Also Virgin CS is the best CS i've ever dealt with
do these guys have a number to call them on
i want to know if it is next day deliver so i can decide where to get it delivered to?

According to the web site it's next working day if you order before 4:00pm. I've gone for the V3 which is limited stock and the order summary says allow for 7 days because of this. You can also get it delivered to your works address which I have.
Thanks op for the heads-up on this deal
Once I've received it I'll be getting a PAC from 3 to transfer my current number.

good news - they're out of stock of the phone unfortunately so I'm wondering whether to go with the v3 or not - will probably stick with the sony though as it looks great and I could use the radio/mp3 functionality as well. Will probably get this for the wife though...

Gone for the Samsung D500. My first cash back phone - lets see how it pans out.
One problem was that I have an existing Orange number which I want to retain - however they cannot port it over so I will have to port the existing no. to say Virgin and then back again later.
I hope I am correct in assuming the above and would like any warnings or tips if I can do it in a easier way.
According to the web site it's next working day if you order before 4:00pm.
Only Mon-Fri in case anyone is hoping for a weekend delivery.
Thanks to OP for spotting this.

Just phoned them, and the stocks are coming on Monday, and the phone should arrive on Tuesday. Basically they'll send you a cheque of £110 after your first month (may take up to 45 days to get through) and you need to send the cashback vouchers attached with the 4, 8, 12 bill to them to get the chequeback. It works out that you'll pay the bill yourself and they refund you with the chequeback to make it to £6.66 per month (in a 12 month contract). If you are an existing E2save customer, you can get £20 for recommending yourself too.
I've noticed I can't find their contact details anywhere on their web site, does anyone have their phone number?

"If you'd prefer, you can place your order by telephone with one of our Sales Team on 0800 049 6496"
Their contact us section points you towards their FAQ first and as an option lets you submit a form with a respone time of 72 hrs.

Actually they do have the numbers on the site - if you look at the top right of the page just below the network logos. There is an animated image which cycles the different numbers -- just that its design/style is not very prominent and obvious.
Just ordered the V3. Was told it's out of stock now but they are getting a delivery on Monday so should have it by Tues, Wed at latest :)

Ordered a D500 Friday noon and received the phone this morning - a pleasant surprise as I was not expecting a Saturday delivery.
However the phone box security seal was broken and the phone has a foreign language set on it.
When I called up customer service I was told that they check the phone as they arrive from their warehouse and they have to ensure that things are all right ---- not too sure if that is indeed correct but it is certainly odd.
They did offer to let me return it to them or take it to the nearest Carphone Warehouse shop where they would reset it to the correct settings.
The phone generally looks OK and does not have any apparent usage marks on it. The screen protector was on too.
Just wondering if anyone has received their phones with the security seal broken or with a different language set up?

I've got a Carphone Warehouse shop near where I work, will this deal be there as well?
Are there any packages that you can get from orange for contract phones thathave text messages as part of the deal?

Just talked to them and the stocks are coming on FRIDAY and the phone would arrive on next Monday. Really unhappy about this...
So rang them again and talked to their customer service rather than to order status checking department, and the lady told me the order has been progressed and should arrive by tomorrow by Royal Mail SD.
I just wonder how they can have different answers  , but I'll wait for the phone and keep you updated with this.
Just had a similar call but they offered me an allegedly returned unused phone with an extra £20 cash back - making it effectively £60 for a years calls and free phone & if it's duff, I'll send it back
so let me get this straight..... (assuming you stay within airtime limits)
they charge you £30 a month for 12 months.
initally they give you £112 pounds, so to start with you are £72 up.
then after 4 months, you will have paid £120 and they will give you an extra £56 back on top of the £112 so you are now £48 up
after 8 months you will have paid £240 and they will give you an extra £56 on top
so you are now in a position of paying £16
after 12 months you will have paid £360 and will have received 280 making the total cost of the phone £80 for the year and then free to cancel the cotnract with no obligation or to move to a lower tariff.?
have i read that right?

Could someone advise me on unlocking and number transfers - I've got 2 months to run on a contract with e2save (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click^QS^p=14992^QA^a=60823^QA^g=99367) but my T610 has just exploded (almost literally - the battery has swelled to the size of a small child after being Glastonburyed under a couple of inches of water). Rather than fork out for a new phone for two months on the contract could I go for this, get it unlocked (assuming that's easy enough - do orange charge?) and use my existing sim for two months in it, then transfer my number after 2 months? Seems a more sensible option than getting another PAYG or something for the meantime
Should point out my reasoning for not tranfering my number straight away - I'm assuming if I do that I'll be deemed as cancelling my existing contract before the 12 months is up and thus loosing my cashbook from the old deal after 12 months
Can anyone confirm that Carphone Warehouse (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/pan/TrackerServlet^QS^p=443^QA^a=60823^QA^g=162274) have actually said that you would be getting the BLACK version as i have ordered one from E2Save.com (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click^QS^p=14992^QA^a=60823^QA^g=99367) and if what everyone is saying is correct (that they will not have any until the end of the week) then i will cancel and get the Black one from Carphone Warehouse (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/pan/TrackerServlet^QS^p=443^QA^a=60823^QA^g=162274)

Certainly one site listed a black where you chose a network, but replaced it with a silver if you clicked on orange. All other companies remained as black ones though? Beats me, I know I'd want the black but I have 2 months at least left with 3. Def canning them after that though, most problematic phone I've ever had (LG8120)

In some ways it's a quite basic but refined 2G handset.
Camera is ok, can play but not record videos but then it will happily play mp3's as tones and message alerts. Memory is only 5mb but I've found this to be plenty with a load of space for half a dozen tones and wallpapers (i've trimmed my MP3's to 30 second clips).
Also comes with transfer software and cable.
Thumbs up but I'll be the first to admit that at least 90% of the reason why I bought this phone was based on design, size and feel. All I wanted as well as that was the MP3 as tones/alerts.

Ordered one of these from CPW and hopefully will get it tomorrow. Got a K750i on order with OSPS and have been waiting for nearly 2 weeks for it, so will cancel it tomorrow. I know this phone won't have all the fancy features of the Sony but it has what I need and looks fantastic.

says it's limited to carphonewarehouse.com so wouldn't have thought so but no harm in asking....
Had my order received email but checking online it shows as still awaiting processing, how long after placing online orders are people getting dispatch/order confirmation emails.
Thanks

nah they dont i just phoned them, website orders only.
I'm presuming their mail order people will do this offer as well?

cross network, anytime, doubled for the first 6 months
Can you drop the tarif down say after 6 months to a £14 one ( Tmobile OVP for example ) and still get all the cashback ??
Thanks to OP - Just ordered !

I asked them (E2save) about downgrading the tariff after 6 months and the answer is yes you can downgrade but the amount of cashback will be dropped as well. I think it's similar with CPW as they might have same policies.
Do you get the free case and PC cable with the carphonewarehouse phone like you are supposed to with the e2save one?

I'm not sure about the case but the cable is coming with the phone isn't it?
Does anybody know if you can FAX the bills for cashback to CPW rather then post them?
Cheers

Yes.
It comes with
micro usb to usb PC data cable (which also charges it)
Mains charger
Case
Micro-usb right angle adapter (why???)
wired hands-free thingie
CD-Rom with PC software (useful for uploading your phonebook and MP3 ringtones).
Now I'm off to read the manual.

Update 3: Have received a confirmation email from e2save for the cancellation and an email from CPW about the new order, according to City Link's web site it's currently "On route to delivery branch" with a scheduled delivery date for tomorrow

By the way, what is the V-shaped clipper for?
Do you get the free case and PC cable with the carphonewarehouse phone like you are supposed to with the e2save one?
yeah it come with a nice leather case, usb cable, software and a little blob which allows you to charge via usb
By the way, what is the V-shaped clipper for?
It's a belt clip for the leather case
Ordered a black and silver for me and the missus last night, first time I'll ever have had a 'trendy' phone :D (although I suspect these are becoming common as much now!)
For anyone looking to port their number across, ignore the bit on the website that says you should order by phone. It takes ages and all they do is tell you to ring your current operator for your PAC code, to give to Orange when the phones arrive. Be far quicker just to order it online!
Does anyone know if the V3 can be charged by firewire? Not going to connect it to a PC, but I have a car charger for my iPod that just chucks the leccy from the lighter socket down a firewire cable. If I got a 6-pin firewire to mini-USB cable, it'd save me having another charger in the car (provided it doesn't fry the handset!)

Mine's arrived! More plastic on the black model than I'd expected though. Does anyone know if the silver one has more metal on the case as the black one looks like it might scratch quite easily...?
Yep, a work collegue has the black one and it was scratched within a couple of days. Its the type of material that shows white scratch marks very easily.
I was quite tempted by the black model but after seeing it , i think i would personally go for the silver if i was going for one ( which i am not because it looks bulky - it may be thin but its very wide).

Both phones have exactly the same metallic casing.
The front flip is metal (the small bottom section plastic).
The battery cover is metal, the bottom half plastic.
I previously had the silver model but the black was just too sexy to resist!
I really am impressed with the finish. I dunno what the hell they did to it but its fantastic and looks just like the day I got it. Think i've had it about 2 months or so now. The case is very very tough, no scratches, no minor marks nothing the screen is also very strong, no marks on that yet either.
The build quality of this phone really is something else, something I've never experienced with another phone.
This is the response i got when I asked about the finish quality on a different forum
cpw have changed the offer now its on virgin for 18months, lucky i signed up last night !

Mine arrived at lunchtime - CPW are the best at fast deliveries in my experience! It looks like they are sending out plain GSM stock, the box and phone are completely free of any network branding, which is a first for me as far as Orange phones are concerned! The other good thing is that the battery was fully charged - and kudos to Motorola for being the first mobile company to include a decent leather case as standard

Yes it is unlocked and unbranded but you've missed the boat as the original offer is now over. They have replaced it with a less attractive deal on a Virgin - 18 month contract. More the pity as I was on the verge of ordering a 2nd one.
A quick question for those that have their V3; does yours have a gap between the clear plastic that covers the LCD display on the front and the main body?
Mine is off center so it's not a even gap around the edge, you can see the circuit board tracks underneath. A worry is that it'll allow dust/water in easily. Perhpas it's just mine and is a manufacturing fault or a "feature"...

I have that to some degree on the keypad, but not the LCD display (which looks to be fitted snuggly)
I've just checked and mine has it too. Particularly at the top.

Got mine yesterday - thanks to the OP. Chap is the office has had a V3 for a while and strongly recommends getting a new case (ie one of the ones that allows the phone to be used with it on) as the screen is very prone to scratching.
Have to say I'm very pleased with it. The interface is a bit poor in places (thought Motolrola would have made some advancements in the 2 years since my last phone from them but it's still rather cubersome at times) but for the money it's a fantastic phone. Admittedly the only fact it's so thin is because it's about 4 foot wide, but I can live with that.

seem to be happening to me alot lately i spend too long thinking about them and then they end, nevermind i was speaking to the guy at cpw yesterday (when i couldnt make my mind up) and he said that i shouldnt tell you this but 02 are releasing some new pay monthly deals and also some reduced contracts aswell, but not until the end of next week, so I'll keep my eyes open for them, other than that someone on the forum may want to sell me one on the classifieds after they have got bored of it.

The gap on mine is along the bottom and right hand side, it's bascially been pushed as far as it'll go into the upper left corner of the hole for it in the main body. Looks like it's hit or miss, think I'll be going into the local CPW shop to see what they say.
Hmm yeah, just inspected mine and the outer screen does have a wee gap round it... The screen is pretty well centered though, so it's not very noticeable. Might be worth investigating one of those covers to stop dust getting in.
got mine today, thanks op

Mine has two gaps on the sides of the LCD too, wonder if their function is to help release heat from the LCD as the LCD is too thin :suspect:
I have just come of the phone with Orange CS. There is a hidden £4 Wap data charge which is automatically added to your bill after the 2nd month. May be wise to remove this additional feature.

Can they do that without telling you? From previous offers that have come with say a month's free WAP they have always been upfront and let you know to cancel else a charge will apply from Xth month.
Will have to check my account details online but thanks for the heads up.

it's saying in the terms and conditions:
10. For pay monthly customers, all free trial bundles are valid for one month.
12. Pay monthly customers will automatically roll onto a chargeable bundle for the selected product at the end of the trial period, where a chargeable bundle exists. Customers will have the option of cancelling the chargeable subscription at any time by calling Orange Customer Services on 150 if you are a pay monthly customer or 345 if you are a small business customer.
I'm calling Orange CS tonight to cancel the trial bundle. Thanks Fokste.

0845 and 0870 calls are charged, 0800 are free, and do not come out of your call allowance
just of the phone to orange 150, they will start charging u £4 per month after first month, so cancel that if u dont need it.
calls to land lines are free and free to cross networks.
im pretty sure calling 150 from yr mobile is out of your free talk time, or else its free.

I think they do charge you for 0800 but I did not know it was this much I thought it was just a 10p connection fee.

got mine yesterday from carphone warehouse but citilink ( we call them something else in private ) decide not to leave a card twice.... e2save are the same bnch and probably use the same couriers.
OT: what do people use to stop the display from getting greasy/smeared (i have sort of greasy ears an unattractive but not noticable fact. new ears are not easy to get.

That funny little keyring thing that came with the phone is, apparently, a screen/keypad cleaner. So you could always use that to remove your eary grease from the phone!

Hmm... yeah I remember a £30 cheque now, but whats the £112 figure about .
£112 was the first (automatic) amount, then after 4 months you send off and get £56, then a couple more £56's.
£30 is what it'll cost you a month if you forget to send off your bills for the cashback!

I guess I'll have to go through my bank records and then call them up.
Yep, first cheque for £112 came through very shortly after the contract started. Best chase up CPW for that if you didn't receive it.

Weird thing was that I sent the copy of the statement off by recorded delivery but Royal Mail lost it or at least there was no recorded signature for it! Only sent in a claim against Royal Mail on 5/4 for the loss and sent off another copy of the statement to CPW...

Could you explain more about this? I've sent this by recorded mail as well, but I think no one's gonna sign it as the address is a PO Box. Does it mean if a recorded item's delivered without being signed-for you can claim £30 from the RM?

Yeah, I know what you mean about getting a signature when the delivery address is a PO box but the Post Office have taken our money when we requested recorded delivery and so we should expect to get the service we paid for. If recorded delivery weren't available for PO boxes then they shouldn't have agreed to take on the task.
After a period of time (not sure what it is, 2 weeks perhaps, phone the number on the back of the recorded delivery slip and they'll tell you when) and there's no recorded delivery evidence (I just use their on-line system that they also use when you phone them) then they declare it "lost". At that point you can claim compensation, the maximum is 100 times the cost of a 1st class stamp.
In my case the day that they declared it lost I sent in a claim for compensation and also another copy of my bill to CPW but then when I got home I found that the cheque from CPW had arrived. It wasn't planned, I assumed it had been lost.
Just had a text from CPW confirming my cashback :) Not surpringly the Royal Mail web site indicates that the letter wasn't signed for...
