Hi,
Santa brought me a NEC 4550 yesterday, and I was wondering what disc's you'd recommend for this drive.
I'm interested in getting the following :-
DVD-R
DVD RW (- or +)
DVD-RAM
DVD+R DL
Thanks
Rick

DVD-R - Taiyo Yuden unbranded 16x or 8x
DVD RW (- or +) - Verbatim 6x DVD-RW
DVD-RAM - only get Panasonic - don't bother with anything else
DVD+R DL - unable to comment
also DVD+R - the Plextor 16x taiyo yuden
All these from SVP - the best blank media retailer in the UK. :)

Why? Get the Panasonic 8x, same dye, better printable surface and CHEAPER!

I've seen some reports of speckles around the edges of branded TY media including Verbs and Panasonic. There may be a reason why SVP can sell these discs cheaper than the unbranded.

I've also heard reports of this too. I've yet to see them (mine look perfect). However, the conclusion from everyone who's had them is that they do not affect the burn quality overall.
