New SVP Website: Discount for forum members

[SVP Communications]

Welcome to the SVP discount thread for DVD Forums members.

All DVD Forum members can have a discount on the prices on our new website.

In order to get the discount we need you to do the following:
1) Go to the new website (www.svp.co.uk) and register. You don't need to buy anything, just register.

2) Email me on steve@svp.co.uk with your surname, the email address you've used to register at SVP and a message saying "Please can I have the DVD Forums discount on my account?"

3) I'll upgrade your account with the discount. Once I've done that and you log back in you'll see the retail prices crossed out and your personal prices on the website instead.

The website is always being improved and features of the current website include:
Personal logins for every customer.
Individual order history available for each customer.
Order status updated online in your personal account area (including tracking details when orders are dispatched)
Faster database running in the background of the website.
Ability to sort items on the screen according to price. You can even sort discs into "price per disc" which is useful when comparing packs of different sizes.
Ability to look for items either by category (i.e DVDR discs) or by brand (i.e TDK)


If you see anything on the website that looks wrong or incorrect please let me know. I do value the opinions of you guys.

Hey Steve, I just signed up my own account, forgot to read this thread so forgot to check for any discount - Anyway, found a bug, after registering and going through the checkout, it brings me back to the "We have Moved" page and then when I go to the main page my basket is still filled with the stuff I had just ordered.

Credit card authorisation is a real science, but I would recommend that for a smooth order process the name AND address on the invoice address matches the name and address that the credit card/bank statements are sent to.
Doing anything different to that might in some instances cause delay.

Remember that it's a computer not a person that decides authorised / not authorised so give it the right information and there shouldn't be any problems.

Yeah in the end I put it on my own card. It was more a curiousity question as some sites let you enter the card owners name when you put in an order, but it seems the new SVP site uses the account name.

The more I use the new site the more I like it. I hope it will be the same for you too. The selection of items we sell has got bigger, but we are trying to keep the site looking clean and not too cluttered. The search facility is very accurate.

The old site had to change because it was slowing us down in our office and stock-control duties.

We've made the new site similar to the old one in all the positive ways we could, but we've added a load of new features that can only be a step forward:
Personal logins for every customer. (So you don't have to type in your invoice and delivery details every time you order!)

I never though about searching for R300. I suppose that its obvious now! I just tried to navigate the menus. I know I'll get used to it, just the first few times it'll seem somehow, difficult and unintuitive to use. but the good prices make it worthwhile to spend extra time to navigate the site over others. I am now seeing that if I ignore the menus on the left and just use the dropdown menus at the top its must easier to navigate. Still find the blue menus completely confusing.
But thanks for the tips. I will test it out.

That only leaves couriers or special delivery, and those options are appearing as they should.
