Well, I think its pretty obvious that the motivation behind the high % of chick flicks in the initial releases is that the firms want to prevent HD from looking like a mere 'boys toy', and also providing an excuse for us attached guys to show off the exciting new tech with titles that girls are prepared to watch.

Remember, women are 50% of the market, and not only will they be a deciding factor in whether or not a household gets a super-HD-TV in many cases, but the new breed of sucessful single business women with disposable income is also a big market for this technology. Release nothing but 'guys films' and they won't play ball.
