Ok, ok it sounded too good to be true, I won an auction for a sandisk extreme III 2 gig compactflash card for 24 quid.
I've read all about that there a a lot of fake ones, so after winning the auction I emailed the seller to confirm if the card was genuine, to which he said it was.
It's arrived and is clearly a fake. Slow to write and read to ( about half the speed of a kingston 50x one I already have ), the packaging and the card shouts of fake all over

Have emailed the guy requesting a full refund - will see what happens

Just really a heads up for everyone thinking of buying sandisk on ebay - don't bother !, the guy had 500 feedback ( about 97% positive ) although the feedback comments were private ( should of realised i know... )

ah well

Does it have a hologram on the card and have you tried writing 2GB of data to it :?:

No hologram, and have written various amounts of data upto about a gig ( my existing cards are only 1 gig - to do the comparison in time )

Well ebay would laugh at a complaint like this - but Sandisk may take action esp if enough people complain about the sales. my son was sold a fake on ebay and i never got around to complaining - I am gonna see if i can find somewhere to complain to sandisk

And PayPal?

Since it's now a criminal act to sell fake goods I doubt PayPal/Ebay would laugh at anything especially if you informed them they'd profited from the crime.

Too many people are too quick to accept fake goods on Ebay.

Sandisk won't do anything, but they will confirm if the card is a fake if you give them a call and quote the serial number off the side of the card.

I had a similar experience and filed a paypal claim which I escalated straight away to seek a refund (which I got). I then negged him and got one in return.
I also emailed the other buyers of cards from my seller and got him several more negs so I felt better for that, especially as he no longer sells memory cards.

65% of Flash drives and memory cards are fake on ebay....

Most normal buyers cannot tell the difference and are happy with their cheap card.... Albeit sooooo slow, they dont know he difference....
