View Full Version : BLU RAY SAME TITLES UK vs USA
I bought the SONY titles Hitch, Hostel, Emily Rose, A Knight's Tale, Underworld, SWAT Blu Ray italian versions and they look the same as USA version except audio track; all the other options, menus and video quality look the same and also disc case and sleeve.
Has anyone compared the UK version with the US version of these first wave of UK blu ray titles? Thank you to all of you.
FYI, I believe Hostel and Emily Rose have not been announced in the US region yet. Other than that I can't help you.

I have the US and UK versions of Ultraviolet, apart from audio tracks I doubt there is much difference. I havent had the chance to compare the two visually yet.

It could be a good thing if you could compare them when you have some spare time and post the result. Thanks

I'd also like to know if Underworld is as good as or better than the US version and also whether XXX is better? Also, any details on the specs (e.g. codecs/soundtracks) for the UK versions?
Cheers :)

Sadly dvdcompare do not do any sort of image and sound comparison, they go from specs alone. So one may have a transfer to die ofr and one may be garbage, and they will not say so sadly.
The sites i use for A/V are highdefdigest and dvdbeaver
Aye, but the DVDCompare forum covers bits and pieces.
HighDefDigest is pretty good but it doesn't compare zone for zone and Beaver gives me a migrane :)

Underworld is an Entertainment release in the UK, predates the US Sony release and is supposed to look bad.

Thanks Ol' Blue Eyes. Someone did mention the UK version was MPEG-2 (on play.com) although the US version is MPEG-4 according to reviews, so I guess that fits.
I have looked at dvdcompare before, but it doesn't mention the specs for the UK versions of either movie.
