View Full Version : Samantha Who? (US comedy with Christina Applegate)
A new single-camera comedy started in the US last night: "Samantha Who?". Christina Applegate plays Sam, who wakes up from an 8-day coma with retrograde amnesia and (with the help of her parents and friends) tries to remember who she is. Part of the difficulty is that people take the opportunity to reposition themselves in her life a little, such as the best friend:...who Sam hasn't really been friends with for years, since she got popular and the friend remained unpopular. The friend sees a chance to be close again, and lies her way back into Sam's life.
I liked this a lot. It really helps that a key part of the show is:...that Sam was actually a bitch, out of touch with her parents, cheating on her boyfriend (who broke up with her just before her accident), and an alcoholic. The reborn nice-Sam has to deal with who people think she was.
Anybody else seen it?

Watched this last night - nice to see the chubby one from Gilmore Girls geting something (Luke from GG is in Aliens In America).
Oh and Tim Russ was fab.
I really can't say I laughed more than once or twice, and nothing major, but overall it was very charming and I enjoyed it a lot.
Just saw this, loved it. Finally a new sitcom that is actually funny. That said Aliens might be ok and I think Cavemen is promising.
Mmm. Liked it. Doesn't sweat for laughs. Reminded me a bit of 'Rhoda' (not just the doorman) and when US sitcoms weren't quite so cutesy. Esposito could steal this from Applegate.

I watched this, this morning after work and quite enjoyed it. Applegate has good comic timing just like when she was in Married with Children although how long can they string this out for? Also on Camaj's recommendation I watched Aliens in America which I really enjoyed and know it is something that my girlfriend will really like as her other favourite is Little Mosque on the Prairie. Will watch Cavemen tomorrow but I must be easily pleased as I found Big Bang Theory funny.
Out of that little lot the only one that I can see making it to our shores is Samantha Who.

Just been browsing the media info on XBMC and noticed that Robert Duncan McNeill, Tom Paris in Voyager, directed this.
He's a director these days, don't think he's done any acting for a few years but has racked up a fair few director credits on various shows.

According to Digitalspy this has been picked up for a full season http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/a78892/full-season-for-samantha-who.html
Just to repost something mentioned in the General forum, Applegate has just had a double Masectomy after cancer was found in one breast. She elected to have both removed 3 weeks ago.

I was wondering if this had been cancelled because I had expected it to be back by now. Anyway a new episode is being show tonight in the US!
