How long does it take for a cheque to clear?

Paid in a cheque into my account the other day. I can see that the money is there.

But when I come to transfer it to another account (same bank), it says I need to check that I actually have that amount in there ... but i do!

Could it be that the cheque has not fully cleared?

Yes. It's marked as a inbound transaction straight away, but will always take three working days to clear the funds fully.

If you paid it in Friday it'll clear Thursday.

It is midnight on the 6th working day after you pay the cheque in before you can be sure it is fully cleared and cannot be recovered.

Withdrawals can be made after the 4th day.....
