Well, frustration of frustrations (if you don't count this site simply swallowing my first lengthy attempt at this post because I had the nerve to post from an old link...!)
The R2 Billy Liar recently released by Warner UK comes in a proper Amaray case, includes the same UK trailer found on the Criterion DVD (albeit with a very slightly more complete ending to the trailer this time!), and is a very-easy-on-the-eyes anamorphic widescreen transfer, with very little in the way of any extra dirt/scratching etc compared with other versions, and so is pretty good value-for-money for what you get...but the end credits are STILL missing!
What is the story with these credits? The end of the film somehow feels incomplete without them, if only because they were always there when the film was shown on the telly. The font matches exactly with that of the opening credits, so they must have been made at the same time, yet they have been missing from every VHS version I've seen, and both DVD editions now. They are underlaid with "Liz's Theme" from the film's score as a playout...and then they end with a ScreenGems ID...might they perhaps have only been made and used for TV editions of the film?
